That reminds me of "back in the day" when our Dad would gather us around the console record player and he would fire up the "Sounds of Drag Racing" albums!!! We would just sit there amazed at the sounds of the track announcers and the top fuel cars! I guess today we get "Sounds of the Strip" on the ESPN telecasts, but really......there is no comparison to hearing it on a record! My Dad would know who's car was coming up next just by hearing it!

I am going to have to go over to their house and look for those records!!! They were a trip!

Suzie,

The company that made the "Sounds of Drag Racing" albums, Fleetwood Studios, is still in business. They have converted the albums to CD and offer them for sale on their website.

Hey Bob, Seeing your a Damn Yankee, do you remeber the AA/FD Damn Yankee car of Jeff Usher from CT??

Mike

Hey do you go to the snowbirds? I haven't been since shirley made a couple of runs there back in 01 I think....

Paul, Any shots are welcome as I'm trying to build models of those cars!!

Bob, No haven't done the snowbirds, actually I've only been back to a track once since I stopped taking pics at Conn in 1972. I walked a carshow event at New England Dragway one day 2003 and got a very fond wiff of nitro from the King and Marshall car during one of the fire-ups they did during the day!! To this day I can't figure out why people were backing away and covering their ears, they were sweet sounds and smells to me...lol
