I’ve wondered if Scott Palmer isn’t on to something good. He's picking up some small track dates like match racing did back in the 60’s70’s and developing a solidly rabid fan base. He doesn’t have to follow legal rules or kill his parts making a pass on those tracks and the fans see a cool smoke and thunder show for 1/3 the price of a NHRA National Event.

Sure those events may only be 5 hours instead of a 10 hour show. But the 10 hour show may be why the bleachers are empty for the T/F and Funny Car final round.

Stick and ball sports keep their show only 3-1/2 to 4 hours long for a reason. Maybe it’s so they can have a good/great crowd at games every week who become their rabid fans who buy whatever’s being sold at the stadium.

(I’ve never used the word “rabid” twice in a post before. Maybe it’s both words… “rabid fans”. Drag racing could use more of them. )

The major reason for the short fields in the so called "CAMPING WORLD SERIES" is NHRA. The only thing they are concerned about is their bottom line. As long as they are lining their pockets with $$$'s I don't see any changes. Where is Lionis like he said he would be their for the racers?

Not sure they've been "lining their pockets" like everyone likes to say. They've taken a big hit with covid, and if you've ever seen their tax returns, they're around 100Mil in Revenue, and that's pre-covid. Again, that's revenue, not profits. So they need to attract bigger and better partners, IMO.

Maybe NHRA should let some of the Funny cars chaos cars run, as long as they meet all the safety issues. I would like to see a Monza or early vette or Mustang run. Better than bye runs and maybe some of them could run better than some of the NHRA regulars

They are missing one of today's most exciting nostalgic classes AA/Fuel Altered. I was told by one of the best known owners that NHRA would not run them at NHRA major events because they were too dangerous.

Obviously, NHRA is taking a hit because they seem to be selling a bunch of assets and I think they are finally figuring out that residing in California is costing them more than relocating to a cheaper area. Honestly, I think the upper half of the corporate end need to take a pay cut until things get stable again. My wife has been working her job for 36 years and they gave her the option to take a pay cut or find another place of employment.

Only 9 TF cars made the first lap in Brainerd. Is Billy Torrence there? I saw him on the entry list.

TAFC... 3 cars on the property...

I didn't realize that neither PS or PSM were running Brainerd until I looked at the entry list. I thought at least one of those were running every race this year. Pro Mod and Alcohol car counts amazingly low while fuel cars continue to be low. Have to wonder about the viability of this race or does it's uniqueness with the Zoo keep it alive.

Who isn't concerned about their bottom line? What's the point in doing something if your not going to make money at it? Rest asure, NHRA is aware of the situation and knows their line of business is cost prohibited at the professional ranks. And what worked 60 years ago can't work today.

With regards to AA/FA running at a national event, they did a 4-wide at Vegas awhile back.

Did management ever take a cut during this covid catastrophy like the racers have to?
