ESPN2 isn't screwing any of you. EVER.
There is no accounting for weather and there is no accounting for live sporting events running long.
If you set aside time this evening to watch eliminations in their originally scheduled time slot, well those are the breaks, it rained in Denver. NOT ESPN2's FAULT. If you have a VCR/DVR and you don't set it to record for at least an hour after the scheduled time slot, then you have no one to blame but yourself, ESPECIALLY since this is a regular occurrence BEYOND ESPN's CONTROL.
Stop whining about ESPN, they are not the problem.

There is nothing common about common sense......FINALLY SOME COMMON SENSE![]()
I turned on ESPN 8 (the ocho) expecting to see the finals of the ping pong world finals and just my luck they had the Dodgeball championships on. That Vince Vaughn can really play!

This had nothing to do with NHRA progress at the track. NHRA's release just said the racing would start at 8:30PM EDT which was soley due to long rain delay at the MLB Futures game in St. Louis which was to start at 3pm and instead started after 5pm. Not because of crashes or the short rain delay at Bandimere. ESPN would never slay the goose that lays the golden egg (MLB) and switch to taped drag racing. They did actually shorten the game to 7 innings regardless of the score and we got to see the whole thing, right? ESPN and NHRA were probably in contact and once an expected finish time for the ballgame was known, NHRA put out a release. As you stated Kris, people should know why before they go off insane tangents. I can guarantee the contract ESPN has with MLB is far more iron clad and worth truckloads more of money.I was surprised to come home to find two hours of baseball on my DVR. When I saw the weather issues though, I was like, aha. I assumed that there may have been a wreck or three.
Those live events are scheduled on ESPN2 before the Western Swing races in particular in case there's a delay of any kind. They're not screwing the fans. Race coverage usually starts late because something is up at the track. I really wish people would find out why the coverage is delayed before getting angry about it since it's often out of the control of those running the event or the network.
Glad I got home when I did ... got through all that I had recorded then was able to catch up with the rest of the coverage just as the DVR stopped recording. Hopefully no one else recording it missed it because of the rain delay.
Well, ESPN actually makes money off of having other motorsports on there. Doesn't NHRA have to pay ESPN to broadcast these events (quite a significant amount of money if my memory is correct).

Everybody should also remember, that starting this weekend all of the NASCAR Cup stuff moves to ESPN / ESPN2 until after Labor Day weekend and then ABC for the rest of the season. Of course if racing cuts into the ABC network primetime schedule ... they'll just move the broadcast over to an ESPN network. Could be just the beginning ...
