Coming Off Runner-Up Finish, Rowe Looking for More

TORONTO (July 20, 2006) - In his first season back on the Pro Mod circuit after taking all of 2005 off, Danny Rowe has just about seen and done it all, with one notable exception.

Rowe enters this weekend's eMax Drag Racing Series IHRA Canadian Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park with a long string of successes behind him, but without an event win on the season. He has two runner-up finishes in nine combined appearances this season on the IHRA, ADRL, and NHRA Pro Mod Challenge tours, including one two weeks ago in Milan, Mich., that vaulted him to third place in the IHRA points standings.

"We've pretty much covered all possible finishes except winning an event," said Rowe, who has advanced to at least the second round in four of the five IHRA events completed to date. "We know the car and the team are in place, and we've had some big round-wins this year, but we have not closed the deal. I know there are a ton of great teams out here, but I feel confident that our time is coming soon."

Rowe will be looking to secure his normally high qualifying position in his Jimmy Rector-tuned '63 Corvette when Pro Mod competition opens Friday at 7 p.m. local time. Other than the rain-shortened Rockingham event, he has qualified in the top half of every IHRA field this season, including a No.3 finish two weeks ago in Milan.

Entering the Canadian Nationals, Rowe trails only Glen Kerunsky and Quain Stott in the IHRA Pro Mod points standings. Kerunsky opened the season with three straight final-round appearances before Rowe finally ended his streak with a pivotal first-round win in Edmonton.

At both of the IHRA's two previous Canadian-based events this season (Grand Bend and Edmonton), Rowe was a quarterfinals finisher.
