I noticed they extended Toll 355 south to I-80. Is that much faster to Rt.66 than coming in from I-55 from the West?

Joe,taking I-355 by passes all hotel, restaurant areas.
If you can get a detailed map of Joliet, and area,
follow I-355 South to I-80, west.
I-80 to Briggs St.(east edge of Joliet), south, left (only one exit)
Briggs St. to Laraway Road (south edge of Joliet), traffic light, go west, right
Laraway Rd to Chicagoland Speedway, about two very short miles, at speedway the police block traffic so you can go through the "parking lot" south to Route 66, depending on when you get to RT. 66,
a) if you're there before Noon Friday, or 9:00AM Saturday follow traffic to left which will have you parking on track grounds, spectator side, close to ticket gates.
b)you arrive later, go right and park "across the street" in private lot. It's closer to ticket gates.
Sunday-good luck.
When are you arriving?

Lee, I live in Naperville and you lost me. LOL I don't take 355 that much, very rare actually. I might have to look at this again before heading to the track.
I usually take Weber road to 55 south, then to 80 E.

Eric, if your "south or west" of I-355 you could "cutacross" east to I-355 and miss going all the way west to I-80 and then back east to the track and miss the traffic.
The roads you might look at would be 159th St-Rt. 6(that would be one road). Or a road through Lemont.

Eric your way vs. taking the new 355 extension would be 6 of one 1/2 dozen of another. Probably end up in a tie. When I'm up in Naperthrill, I do the Weber Rd. thing too.

Lee, those directions sounded like Mr. Andrews giving directions to Kate Winslet in Titanic to find where Jack was held captive! Just joking...Actually I know where you turn south on 53 to get to the track, been there 4 times. I'm staying in Lombard so if it saves me 10 minutes each way than Excellent!!!;)

After looking at a map, I would go I-355. Miss a lot of traffic, and shorter.

I live in the area and have no clue. :( They only thing I can tell you is from my house I take 80 to the track. From my door step to Rt.66 is less then 30 minutes with no traffic.

I got a PM stating that there is a TON of Construction on I-55, so going to and from the airport take I-355 if possible!;)

Joe, what part of 55 had the construction? I don't usually go south too much besides the races. I usually go toward the city and haven't seen that much.
I crossed 55 yesterday going to my son's allergy dr and southbound was backed up really far. I didn't have time to see why (was about 3:40, figured rush hour?). Time to look into alternate route for me then.
Thanks.

You have got to remember that there are only two seasons in chicago, Winter and road construction/repair. Living west of chicago I come in on 80 east then turn south to the track. I get up early enough that it is not too bad.

I-55 south to I-355 is relatively free of construction. There may be pot hole maintenance going on( SHOULD be finished by race, but this is Illinois).
I-355 is brand new. Three lanes each direction! Yeah!
If you are early enough, coming from north or east, on Briggs, go past Laraway to next road, Schweitzer, it'll take you directly to parking, shorter lines.
I come from 20 miles due east on Laraway.

Joe, could be. I generally am not on I-55 at that time. And that could make a huge difference. I-355 WILL fly.
Do we wish for mine shaft conditions, or fan friendly conditions?

Dream of great track prep, dry and 70's.
I've, you've, seen the extremes!
Conrad's fleet and mine shaft conditions..... ahhh. 90%
