Saw a somewhat related segment on Mythbuster, where an acetylene bottle that had the valve severed off of the top blew its way clean through a concrete masonry wall barely slowing down in the process. So I believe those witnesses when they describe what that Nitrous bottle did.

Beyond stupid. Government calls one guy and tells him to clean things up or they'll regulate . . . hah!
