Hey maters,

I got a question for the techies. I'm not too crazy about I-Pods, so I was looking at a Sony Walkman MP3 player, and was wondering if I could use that Walkman to download podcasts.

Do I need an I-pod for podcasts or will the Walkman work? Is there software I need to download it?

I-tunes (free download from Apple.com) works best. You can schedule downloads of the podcasts you like then when you synch it up, there they are.

The problem is, I don't know if I-tunes would recognize your player.

If it came with software, browse around in it and see if you see anything about podcasts.

Otherwise, you will have to manually download them, place them in the directory your Sony synchs music from and then synch the player.

Does that make sense?

Thanks Greg, I'll take a look at i-tunes, maybe it'll tell me before I download and buy the MP3 player

I am pretty sure after looking around a bit that Itunes is ONLY compatible with Ipods.

Most podcasts are just normal audio files, usually mp3s, so you should be able to just download them with whatever browser you're using and then upload them to your player.

I have an Archos 604 Wifi it downloads and plays podcasts from iTunes just fine, you should be fine.

I'll download it and see. The Walkman is 4GB and 129.99 and I have a coupon for 25 dollars off at Staples if the purchase is over 100, and the I-pods are 199.00 and i have a coupon for 35 off if the purchase is over 150.
