Plane went down in the motorhome lot next to the track. Racing is on hold, prayers to all involved.

The fact just the plane’s passengers were the only injuries is nothing short of amazing.
I’d be surprised if racing resumes today. Air crash investigators have to do their job. Then the plane needs to be removed.
Right now, the racing takes a back seat.

Surprisingly, they did start running again. As of right now they are most of the way through FC first round.

somebody has a new RAM convertable. When you consider that the Vegas track is across from a big air base think what could happen there. If Connie was flying it he would have landed perfectly on the race track.

At least with Vegas if something were to go wrong, there is plenty of desert directly east of the dragstrip they could crash without any major incident. The fact the plane crashed where it did and when it did today is an absolute miracle as it seems everybody on board is going to survive and nobody on the ground is reported hurt. 20-30 minutes earlier, Im sure there are a decent amount of people milling around, sitting around their motorhomes (with a campfire or two going). If it crashes a few hundred yards to the north it crashes into the pits, or even worse, into the grandstands. I remember a few years ago a plane clipped the scoreboard at the top end and crashed onto Fairplex Dr. a few days after the Finals and I shuddered thinking about what would have happened if it was raceday.

Also kudos to the safety safari for jumping into action to keep a bad situation from turning into a catastrophic situation. Those men and women are the unsung heroes of our sport.

See the red Camaro in bottom left of first pic; my cousin was in that car at the time. So close to a disaster. Glad the plane passengers are suppose to be fine and no life threatening injuries. Could have been so much worse.

Also I believe Capps said his family was in tue motor home . Yikes

I'd say that pilet did a dam good job at minimising any damages and fatalities. It could have been MUCH worse if he went into the stands or pit area.

here is flightpath into brackett. looks like plane was making gradual right hand turn into runway 26R. i'm surprised the plane wasn't
lined up a little straighter on his decent (vectored into brackett differently) maybe on a sunny day like yesterday the pilot has authority to
visually line up and land? this guy was descending, turning, and scrubbing speed all at same time.
