yes he did. he and gary gerould both. the others did too but those two have been around this as announcers many times before unfortunately. their experience served them well. Their obvious compassion was comforting.
I don't doubt that there are still some who prefer to focus on his minor mistakes but watching intently as I did yesterday and today, I came to the conclusion that he has really come to love this sport and it's players or he's an excellent liar. I sincerely doubt it is the latter.I think he did an outstanding job covering a terrible situation.
Paul and Gary did tremendous jobs this weekend. Watching Gary choke up Saturday was one of the most difficult moments I've had to watch on TV in a long time. They did a great job during a difficult time.
i think the whole crew of espn and the racers that were interviewed did an outstanding job at a hard time like this.
Yes these people are professionals but as we see these unfortunate incidents happen we do realize they are all human.
tony P said they are a different breed, may be a different breed when you get in the car but outside they all have hearts and can all shed tears. The NHRA family is just that, one big family, they are competitors on the track but off the track i dont think there is one person in the pits that would not run to the rescue of another racer. I have been a racer, part of a professional team, and whether its sportsman racing or professional or fans, we are all part of the big family.
Job well done to all on a tough day of racing to all!
I am normally hard on PP but I was going to start this thread today and I was glad someone already did. I think he did an outstanding job this weekend.
PJ, I managed to hang in there until the Kalitta team came to the line and Robert Hight idled away from the tree and slowly down the track. What a beautiful tribute to a true champion...I'm normally hard on Page, and my view of him hasn't changed however he did do one helluva job yesterday and I commend him for that.
Heariing GG break down...I was already having a rough time...I lost it then
