Wow....if we would have known a mid-seven second pass would have made the field, we would have gathered up a bunch of old used HEMI parts, bought a Status R/T and probably made the show...with a 426 motor. We could have checked that off the bucket list...

but would an actual factory based enigine still be legal in Pro Stock?

Probably not. It would be too 'stock' for Pro 'Stock'.
When you exclude other manufacturers of engine parts and Ford, Mopar, and GM can dictate the price you pay for the parts you get limited people who are in the game. Sonny's can produce a legit 500 ci engine, World could give you a decent block to work with, nothing is stock about these cars so why not let a little competition in to drive some of the pricing down an let more players into the game.

I was talking to Jason Line on Sat and he stated that they will have the Summit Camaros by Atlanta in May and that the aero will be the same if not better than the GXPs... With all the tweaking I am not surprised. I then stated that it would be nice if Mopar Teams would field a Challenger for Pro Stock and He stated that as he understands it the Mopar teams are working on a Challenger Pro Stock for 2013.
