This was another cool innovation that came out the fabled Lions Drag Strip. It was called Octo-Vise Super Asphalt. It already in play for the 1966 season. Before some big meets the management would "sandblast" the surface to get it fresh and get a return to having some excellent traction, throw in BX-10 "Boss Bite" and Lions was the traction capital of drag racing.......................except when a case of the heavy Pacific Ocean rolled in, then it was the "duel in the dew."

Yep..... Some of the T/F cars had a "night motor" for Lions. Instead of the 392 Chrysler, they would run the 354 engine, less power, able to handle the dew better. It could get chilly at Lions at night. Seem to remember OCIR had a "dew problem" as well.
