Why was Novelli's run DQ'ed from the 4th session? Was it the Arly Langlo rule? Too many oil downs or ???
After yesterday, they probably said.. Hey, we have a live TV deal coming up, DON'T oil the track... Well.. he smoked the tires, stayed in it WAY too long, and blew it up. Don't tell me "Oh, it's Indy, he's trying to get it in." Cause he had no chance once it lit the tires.
Has nothing to do with Indy or TV ... If you cannot make a class representative run and continuously delay the racing for others, you can be
DQ'ed. Simple as that. The Safety Safari isn't there to be one teams personal cleanup squad. The fans don't want to watch the black trucks all day ... and I am sure Luigi's fellow competitors just love sitting around waiting to run after his messes. Listen, I am not a crew chief or an expert but that crap gets old fast. I don't want to hear about trying hard, it isn't easy and all the standard keyboard crew chief comments. I get all that, you want to be a Pro run your program like a Pro.
yep - spot on! there was a time when nhra would deny those with problems (leakers) admission to events until they went testing and could prove they could run without blowing up. today that's hard for small funded teams but safer for all involved. I was standing near the starting line prior to the boomer with a few old friends (two current crew chiefs and crew members) they were making book on where on the track it would boom! Afterwards they were shocked that he never lifted when you could hear it go south at the starting line!
Anybody remember this thread http://www.nitromater.com/rumors/17572-luigi-novelli-ask-leave-indy-event.html
I'm sorry to say this, but when Luigi comes up to make a run, we head down to get something to drink, eat, or use the restroom because you know there's a cleanup coming. It happened again this weekend.
