I just want to thank Kenny Koretsky for rethinking his fate in the class. LE deserves to be racing and sooner or later these "politics" will be worked out.

Thanks Kenny !!!! You are definitely one of the good guys in this sport !!!! I hope your help can lead to the Tonglets getting better results !!!!

Not sure where you got that KK rethought his "fate in the class"....seems to me he is just wants to lend a hand to a family/race team that he truely cares about while at the same time getting NF some cheap exposure (notice that it was a major associate sponsorship).

I'm glad Kenny has reconsidered even if its to a lesser degree.
I was a little miffed that he had used the Harleys as an excuse to pull his money out of the game. Those pieces were in place when he started sponsoring them. If every sponsor only threw money at sure-fire winners, there would be a lot less cars+ bikes out there.

He backed out publicly being quoted that he felt that the class was a lost cause when the Harley's just basically can show up and take the trophy home. Still no matter how small it is between other sponsors and the amount of cash they will donate to the program, this "little deal" must be huge enough to fill a whole that keeps them out. KK runs a business and I would think the point is not about x amount of dollars and is more about doing what he feels is right for the company and what brings back the best return on investment.

It's obvious from your response that you did not read the article or what I wrote, but then again, what's new? LOL

i'll go with sales

If he were doing it for sales, that would be a pretty bad business decision IMO. Seriously, how many LE Tonglet Nitrofish t-shirts do you think they sell in a weekend at $25 a pop? Or how many people will go to Nitrofish.com to buy a t-shirt as a result of his sponsorship with Tonglet....not a lot IMO.

I do not know what a major associate sponsorship typically runs, but I'm guessing $2500-3000 per race if that. If KK's decision was based on sales for three races, I bet he'd be lucky to break even.

It's clear to me that he's doing it because he really wants to help them, and yes, some cheap exposure for NF as well, but I believe that's secondary here.

KK can probably find $7500 for three races buried in his couch at home (he bought Charles Barkley's home in Philly after he was traded from the 76ers). Here's a guy that owns and runs nine different corporations, from industrial and commercial real estate to recycling of concrete and asphalt from road construction. An associate sponsorship on a PSM is nothing to him and is certainly less of a business decision than a "feel good" decision IMO.

What's old is that unless I agree with you, there's a long history that you find my opinion wrong. I read the article and I read what you wrote and I'm not wrong for having a different opinion that you, i'm allowed thank you very much. Is there a chance that this has nothing to do with your view of KK not rethinking is offer and just wanting to sponsor a team for some "cheap" money? Yea, you could be right. I wanna say it's not about just sponsoring a team for some cheap cash and he actually reconsidered sponsoring a bike in spirte of how lopsided the class is? That's my view. I'm not wrong, I may not be right, but this is what makes a conversation.

you're welcome

And here lies proof that you still didn't read (or comprehend) what I wrote.....unbelieveable!

You know, you're right Patrick! KK did "rethink his fate in the class" as you put it....that's why he broke out the checkbook and came ROARING back in as an ASSOCIATE sponsor for THREE races. Maybe you can pick up the sarcasm there

Ever consider he might be feeling it out to continue as a primary after the 3. Major he's in a rock and a hard place between not really wanting to sponsor because of how the class is and not wanting to sideline a team he likes. I read between the lines and alot of the time it leads to less questions than the article would by itself. This is not about money to Kenny, I predict depends on how these 3 races go (everyone vs. the harleys) he is going to write that ROARING check. This is a statement KK is making.

I found this article interesting:

Q&A: Kenny Koretsky, NHRA Team Owner | Drag Illustrated

Note what KK said in the 1st paragraph about Tonglet, and keep in mind that this interview was done prior to the beginning of the season.

Good article and thanks for the link. I guess espn is making me look bad because they were the onces that said what they did. Paul Page said that was the reason why KK was getting out of PSM. So now I wonder how much of what Paul says when he says is what someone said and what is more his opinion

Actually Patrick, I just noticed that that the article was dated before the beginning of last season, not this season.....not sure why I was thinking it was January 2012??
