I liked this line from the article and if they run like this year...
“I’m going to stay in the Top Alcohol Funny Car,” Ferro said. “I enjoy this class and there is a lot of competition here. We will probably run in this class for at least five more years"
Well now won't that make sleep a little uncomfortable for the rest out there in the class.

Just a quick note about why those of us who are sportsmen racers love it so much and this will explain why Mickey will stay in TAFC and I'm sure Nancy will back me up on this.
1. We love the competition and we are driven to get our cars to run better.
2. The people we race with are terrific and we love spending time with them (that is, of course, once we make the turn off from the race track-on the track, we want to rip their throats out).

Those guys have really come on strong. Hey Randy, as an old altered guy, do you remember the issue of Drag Racing USA from the early '70s with the Terenzio's blown '23T on the cover? (I mention this because one of the Tererenzio's is CC for Ferro). Also, will you have your hot rod out next year?

Actually (no kidding) I do because I subscribed to Drag Racing USA back then and, as you may know, I was a big altered freak finally building one with an Arias hemi-Chevy in it in the later 1970's-early 1980's. I liked the mag and was sad to see it go because they always ran some great pictures.
We love racing Mickey. I wish we could have been out there the last couple of races this year. We had fun last year at Vegas and the Finals running them.
I was happy to see them do so well this year. Great bunch of guys.Randy

That was a great mag. And, I posted that because I know you raced the altered, you actually posted the article from PHR mag and I popped because I actually remember the article about you, and thought that car would look every bit as good today without much changed. We've never met but I enjoy your posts because a) You're a racer, and this site needs more b) you had an A/A and my dad raced A/A way back when I was a kid. So how bad of a guy could you be? 
I believe the original Drag Racing USA was gone by the mid to late '70s. I was bummed because as a little kid I would go to our local drugstore right around the time each month when the new one came out. It was probably .75/issue. The other great one was Super Stock & Drag Illustrated, which hung on longer, maybe to the early '90s.

I am thinking of the latter. That was a great mag for me, I got articles out of it that I would never get out of Hot Rod or Car Craft.

Steve Reyes did the article. He actually took the pictures in the Summer of 1980 at Orange County International Raceway. Hard to believe it was over 30 years ago:

Man Randy every time I see pics of that car it makes me want to find an old low-slung FC chassis and get a T body. One of these days I will scan a pic of my dad's A/A. If you remember Ron Ellis' AA/A from around 1969, the car that runner-upped at Indy to Ohio George, my dad's car was an injected version of that car, built by the Logghe Bros.
