I couldn't agree with you more . . . surely this was the real rule and nobody asked the question right yet. I know who I'd send to go ask. He doesn't have a dog in this hunt . . .

sorry, but i don't think they should. when i got into ta/fc racing , the guy that taught me about it said you should always make the first run, and set the car up to go down the track. even if it isn't for low e.t. you HAVE to go down the track in case something like this happens. this has got to hurt haddock's pocket if today gets rained out, but everyone has the same amount of chances to qualify. :(

Just read at comp plus what happened and it sucks.

I hope they get a run in today so it doesn't matter.

We can't complain when the rules are bent for testing on the big teams then turn a blind eye or even advocate for bending when it helps the underdog.

Good luck Terry

But what if Terry won the event?

I'm sure NHRA would rather him race as would I. But sadly I have to agree. You have to make that first run just in case. If the rules are alway getting bent then it just becomes a show and nothing more. If the rules no longer stood for something then everything is subject to change.

Ummmmm i think we are in the situation of the last sentence.

he's in!!! now, anyone have odds of a first round, second round, third round, or event victory?

i say 20:1, 90:1, 400:1, and 2000:1

wish him the best of luck nevertheless, just glad he made the show.

So that the safety safari can get more track time on Sunday?

You need to get your facts straight. If you knew a nickels worth about that team, you'd know they really don't hurt a lot of parts. If they did, they wouldn't be racing at all right now. There have only been a couple of exceptions to that this year.

Here's the answer to the question....Todd Simpson is recorded on the qualifying sheet as NT (No-Time)....guess what, he's racing from the #15 spot tomorrow

He made a valid Q run on firday but was below the 12th spot and therefore his time did not carry over for Saturday. It appears he didn't make a pass Saturday so he gets the 15th spot.

I love the title of the thread! But remember, this IS the NHRA we're talking about, and they "bend" the rules to suit THEMSELVES, and no one else. And they do it often!

Remember when you really LIKED the NHRA? It wasn't that long ago, just a few years. Remember who ran it then? Remember how well it was run?

Do you wonder where those people went? Well, some of them are gone for sure. Never to return. Always will be remembered for what they did, and what they do. But where are the ones who are still with us?

Why, the run the 2 reunions each year. The NHRA Hot Rod Reunion, and the California Hot Rod Reunion.

If you've never attended one, do it. you'll love it. You CAN live without Graham and his cronies.

My point is that car has broke on the burnout or blown up more times than any other TF car this year.

Seriously?? As far as breaking on the burnout, they've had 2 issues with the reverser, one time the reverser broke, the other time the linkage was damaged and wouldn't go into reverse. The had a problem with the brakes. They were shut off one time because a blower strap was not in it's proper place. I believe the other time they were shut off was due to a minor fuel leak earlier in the year. Yeah it sucks to have something screw up, but it's hardly a case where the safety safari is having to mop up a mess every time the car comes to the line.

I'd love to know your source for stating that this car has blown up more than any other TF car this year. Do you keep those kinds of records on hand? Since the NHRA no longer issues oil down penalties, have you taken it upon yourself to go ahead and keep track of them? I think you'll find this team is not the leader in oil downs this year. As I said before, this is probably the last team that can afford to blow their stuff up, and they wouldn't be out there at all right now, had they been making a practice of it.
