NHRA points question....

I still call BS on the NHRA for this. Why did Ashley and John Force each receive loser points after both team Force cars were no-shows against the Pedregon cars in the semis after John's crash in Dallas in 2007? The thing same thing happened with Doug Kalitta, David Grubnic, and Hillary Will after we lost Scott last year. A precedent has been set and the folks in Glendora should follow it!

Because the teams were still on the property. Mike's team wasn't there for his round and neither were we. I was told not being there = no molah and no points for the round.

ok. While we are at it, someone please explain the decision process to decide the difference between continued and rescheduled events ..........

Randy, please know that I respect your comments and am not debating your information and I understand you are relaying information. The rule may be in place but it's extremely opportunistically enforced at best.

Given this set of circumstances posed about Kalittas and Forces, should it really matter where their physical bodies were if they were not coming to the line to compete? On site or off site, these teams were not towing to the line either way and this rule is so badly written as to benefit these mega-bucks teams and cut arteries of the independents. This is not to mention the question of "rain delayed event" vs "rescheduled event" which has not been addressed whatsoever.

Hey Bobby:

My information is direct from the horses mouth and there was no debating the issue. This is what I was told.

As far as we are concerned I can think of just two times in almost 20 years of TA/FC racing we were not able to return for first round but were on the property. We got the points and we got paid. Then there is this one time (2009 Winternationals) where first round was run and we were not on the property. We lost points and got no money as I said and that is there stated policy.

Seems to me they have been very consistant on this. Whether or not "these teams were towing to the line" has nothing to do with it. I've never heard of anyone not being treated any differently.

The points are listed on NHRA.com and they do not make sense to me.

1 Doug Kalitta 110 - Attac
2 Antron Brown 90 - Hadman
3 Brandon Bernstein 70 - Hadman
3 Morgan Lucas 70 - Hadman
5 Steven Chrisman 50 - McKinney
5 Cory McClenathan 50 - Hadman
5 Tony Schumacher 50 - Hadman
8 David Baca 30 - Sarmento
8 Andy Carter 30 - Baumgarter
8 Del Cox Jr. 30 - McKinney

8 Urs Erbacher 30 - *********
8 Steve Faria 30 - Dragster
8 Joe Hartley 30 - McKinney
8 Shawn Langdon 30 - Hadman
8 Spencer Massey 30 - Dragster
8 Mike Strasburg

How is it that Mike Strasburg has the same points as the first round losers. I thought they awarded points for round wins and no-showing for the next round was irrelevant.

dont worry about it, now with the bogus countdown, the points at the end of the year make no sense either :D

It seems that the high profile darlings of our sport have a different rule book than the one the regular joes have.

So, with that thought in mind Curtis, wouldn't it be that easy to contact Glendora and call them out on their supposed split rule book?

Or....

It seems pretty easy to tell who feels somewhat effected by this "unique" ruling and who really couldn't care less about those effected.

Personally, I'm more than just sympathetic to the situation as I know the effected parties well enough to feel their pain besides, pointing and laughing never was my style.

It remains to be determined if this rule applies to rain delayed, extended, postponed or only rescheduled events, and I'll be darned if anybody can confirm to us all just which it was.

There were no responses to this question I posted yesterday so I will pose this follow-up question. If the event were simply continued, wouldn't the Strasburgs and others have technically been "on property"? A re-scheduled event however, makes them no shows.

Just wondering................

maybe not. based on what others have said it appears that if the car is still on the property, which I believe was the case with Team K and Team Force then they do not get penalized. If you leave then it doesn count against you.

Not saying its right but based on that it does appear to be done evenly.
