When the boycott happened years ago, did people in the stands know what has happening?

This is happy news. I just bought a back-halved all steel 70 Nova roller that I’d like to semi convert to a retro modified car. I doubt I would ever run it in NHRA divisional and certainly not in a national event, but I’d like to adhere to the spirit of the rules. I’ll pay very close attention to the rules when they come out.
