Torco Race Fuels, a major sponsor on the IHRA eMax Drag racing tour, will expand their marketed brands to included one of their sponsored properties – major internet drag racing magazine CompetitionPlus.com.
Torco Race Fuel’s CompetitionPlus.com will be assigned to the Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified and Pro Stock classes as well the accompanying $102,000 Shootout and Showdown.
Evan Knoll, owner of the Knoll Gas – Torco Race Fuels group, says the decision was his to make.
“You would have to search long and hard to find a more dedicated group than the people at CompetitionPlus.com,” Knoll said. “They never stop when it comes to staying ahead of the program. Before Torco Race Fuels became the title sponsor, I was a huge fan of the website and I’m even more so now. Bobby Bennett and his group bring to the table a huge amount of resources that can only help our special programs.”
Bobby Bennett, owner, founder and publisher of Torco Race Fuels CompetitionPlus.com, was caught off guard with Knoll’s decision to divert the marketing program to the electronic magazine.
“We were sitting in Evan’s coach following the Pro Modified Shootout and we reflected on the day’s activities and how well things had worked out for both Torco and the IHRA, when he came up with the idea,” Bennett said. “Once I got over the initial shock, we began brainstorming for the future. Evan pointed various ideas to take the programs and shootouts to the next level.”
Aaron Polburn, IHRA President, believes that such a move will further enhance an already strong program.
"With Torco Race Fuels CompetitionPlus.com’s addition as a sponsor of the Torco Racing Fuels Pro Modified Shootout, the "All-Star" game just took a quantum leap forward,” Polburn said. “When you see what Bobby and the gang are going to bring to the table it will only elevate what is already the greatest Pro Modified event on the planet"
This decision will effectively change the naming rights of the classes to Torco Race Fuels CompetitionPlus Pro Modified and Torco Race Fuels Competition plus Pro Stock. Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com will implement a special news page for the two classes to keep racers and fans abreast of the latest happenings in each of the classes.
Knoll also announced a multi-year extension of the title rights sponsorship of Torco Race Fuels CompetitionPlus.com. The original program was slated to end at the conclusion of 2007.
