New Rush, Clockwork Angels, is coming out June 12th. They have a single out now, called Headlong Flight. The video is up on YouTube. Pretty rocking. They've announced a tour, too. Can't wait!

Man, that's a pretty aggressive riff! Cool that they are still firing out 7 minute- epic songs like that. Can't wait to hear the whole thing.

thank you tom.

honestly have to say although they are not my first pick on itunes,
they are still probably in the top 10 bands worldwide
playing this genre' of rock & roll; the fact that their legacy is
40+ years most likely puts them #1 on their loyal fan's top 10 list.

there's something about geddy's voice recently that i do not care for; seems
like he rolls up to notes and does it consistantly, it's not how he sang in
the good ole' days - i know, i'm splitting hairs.

the one thing that struck me listening to this song is it's opening is extremely
similar to the foo fighters' song 'bridge burning' from their recent album
'wasting light' (which continues to be a huge favorite of mine)

hate it when rush threads start here (thanks tom ), waste waaaay
too much time plowing through youtube both old and new and of course
get really stuck on a few.
when i think of rush, want to listen to rush -
this is the era that blew me away, and still does.
music can give you goose bumps and a lot of these guys' tunes did and still
do......17:00 mark

Good old Xanadu. Saw them play this in 1990 back in Kansas City. That was a treat.

I don't think it's just me, but the synthesizer work from this era sounds so good. I like the old analog synths, like the oberheims and mini-moogs rush used.

I'm with you, man. The new tech is cool, but nothing will compare to good old analog. I love the modular synths with the patch cables :D

You should check out Analog Heaven New England. I went back in 2009 and it was cool to see all of these old modular synths with patch cords snaking around...

There is a documentary on Robert Moog, simply titled Moog. More people use analog synths than I previously thought, as evidenced by the bands in this film.

I am sure there are interviews with Oberheim as well, but I haven't run across them.

I've seen the Moog video for sale at my local CD shop. I guess i'll have to pick it up!

as long as we're on a drag racing website i'll add this......

i seem to have enjoyed both rush and nhra more in the past.
is it me or them or both?....or just middle age

First show is Sept. 7 in Manchester, NH. And then Boston in October. I've never been to a tour opening show, so I should check out the NH show...

Isn't there something weird going on with these guys not yet inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Don't know much about it, but, if true, it just doesn't seem right.

I've read that there is a person on the voting committee that has said, in
effect, "as long as I have a vote, Rush will never be inducted." I don't
have a citation for this.

But, Rush doesn't seem to be too concerned with it. They are doing what
they have always done: concentrate on making music that pleases them,
and in the process, pleasing their fans. And then putting on a great live
show.

rock and roll hall of fame is commercial rock and roll; yet another branch
of the performing arts full of self-adulation and awards.

rush IMO has not and does not play this game.
like any business, rush flourishes based on their repeat customers and the
excellent product they have put forth for over 40 years.
