That is Fontana. He is lucky as that is short. When I did the school at Pomona. I thought the golf course looked too close when I was staging. I thought that thing wouldn't stop if I ran it to the finish line. Then I had to remind myself that dragsters went 300 there and stopped.
Never the less, the end of the track was coming up awfully fast. My first 1/4 mile pass, I did get out of it a little early. Then when I saw how far it was to the end when I got stopped, I was OK with running it out the back door.
Interesting side note. Our teacher was Jack Beckman. One of the guys in our group made a mistake. Enough to get you booted. Jack went over to him while he was still in the car and talked to him for quite some time.
Jack then said he could continue. I found out later that the guy was so upset at what he did, that he wanted to quit. The talk Jack was having with him was talking him out of quitting. What a class guy.
