New Pro Stocks

Toyota is a player in nitro? In name and decals only. Is there a 500ci toyota motor that can be made to run pro stock?
So what..... can you show me a Ford, or Chevy engine used in nitro.... why would Toyota be any different? Lol

Sure, Ford had the Boss 500 but everyone knew it was a Mopar with the Ford name stamped on it.

While it's true there are no production pieces being used in nitro, every engine is based on the Mopar Hemi design, so I consider them Mopar.

For Pro Stock I'm not sure what the Asian brands would do for motor. A stroked Tundra V8? As far as I know there's been no development on a combo like that, so they'd have a lot of catching up to do.

if they want to play they forge a block and hire good help to bring them up to speed....they mite even sponsor the class and have one
factory team that would dominate and win the championship year after year....no other team could run their combination.....
sound familiar?.....just sayin', anythings's possible.....i would LMAO if that happened.

toyota btw has bragging rites with del and antron rite now....pretty smart play sponsoring a couple successful teams like they do.
not to sidetrack the thread much further, but kalittas picked up some more support for their dragsters too.....oh yeah, from toyota.
 
The current Mopars in Pro Stock use a DRCE (Chevy) block with a Mopar part number. I can see Toyota doing something very similar, very easily if they wanted to, especially with the induction system being basically spec.

Thanks Chris, i didn't know that there blocks were Gm Just goes to show you can learn something new everyday.

The Mopar block and the GM block don't even look the same.The Hemi 99 and the DRCE are completely different blocks. Ford however uses the Mopar block,with a bit higher cam tunnel area.

I was under the impression all of the blocks were cast in the same shop (Merlin?). And last time I looked ... the distributor was on the front of the Pro Stock Hemi (GM placement).

That happened right after the Wayne County era. When Dale Eicke took over the Mopar program,they used the GM block (cast by Caterpillar) with a Mopar part number on it.In reality,the Dodges then were using "Pontiac/Olds" engines,and they had the distributors in the back,just like a BB Chevy does. Nickens was using those engines too when he had the Mopar deal at first. NHRA eventually nixed that idea and the Hemi 99 program was used after that. The dist in the front is pretty much standard on everything now as it's a MSD distributor on a bracket,that is driven by a thin belt off of the cam.
 
I haven't taken a closer look, but what would the chances be of using an offshoot from their NASCAR engines?
