I don't think anyone expects a few rules changes in Pro Stock to "save" the NHRA. I do however, think it is a first step to saving that class.

Something had to be done to modernize the cars and bring them more in line with stock cars. Anything that can make them more recognizable to John Q. Ticketbuyer and Detroit is moving in the correct direction, in my inconsequential opinion.

Chris is right. They had evolved to far from their start. No longer lived up to the name. Running 500 in. engines that you can't buy, and trick trans, that you can't buy, over regulated ect. They were more like the old A/FX ers, a cross between classes. (IMO) NHRA didn't go far enough. But like stated above, it's a start in the right direction.

Take your NHRA glasses off... that's supposed to look MORE stock then they did? I think it more closely resembles this soap bubble then a stock car.

They look more stock than they did with that big honking snorkel on the hood. But you are correct, they do not look "stock".

I guess its a philosophical difference - I view the snorkels on the hood I as an extension of the engine - which is definitely not stock (other then perhaps its soul).

I know those are only artist's renderings, but the body profiles look farther from stock than before. Did you notice how laid back those windshield angles are?

And I'm not just picking on the Darts... The first time I saw the new Camaro body in Bickel's shop I couldn't believe how sliced-n-diced they were.

I still can't figure what the issue is with hood scoops.... Pro Stock has had aftermarket hood scoops since day one. Methinks the factories had something to say on that one, because nobody complained when these showed up at your local track. Everyone thought they were badass!

The sole issue I have with the aesthetics, and this is only based on the renderings, is the transition area from the hood to windshield. While I'm generally in favor of the PS changes, I'll reserve judgement on whether or not I like the new body shape until after I've seen the real thing.

The hood-to-windshield angle is hardly nothing. This is stock?! Again, all the pro stock cars will look the same. And then there are the funny cars with their bubble tops. If they (PS and FC) didn't have a manufacturer's name on them you wouldn't know what brand they were.

If the NHRA really wants to "save" the PS class they should be changing the rules so it isn't so damn expensive to run one of these cars. The extreme $$$ is what is killing this class. NHRA still doesn't have a clue.

In about 17 days we're going to be in the calendar year 2016, find a brand new 2016 model year car, boat, truck, rv, lawnmower, weed wacker, snow blower, or leaf blower that has a carburetor. People complain that Pro Stock isn't stock, well what's the point in running carbs nearly three decades past their expiration date? I'm not trying to kick carburetor's out of NHRA, there's plenty of categories for them. If you're going to have a category that is supposed to showcase technology for and from the manufacturers why were they still running an induction system that hasn't been seen since Ronald Reagan was POTUS? I wish they would downsize the cubes as well, maybe that will be down the road. I agree that the bodies need some attention. A few alterations here and there is okay, but the current shape is way out there.
