Gloria asked me to pass this along......
The Hough Family is proud to announce that Jon Capps will be driving the Nanook Fuel Altered in 2010. Jon will take over driving duties, vacated by Vince Generalao who will concentrate on other business and racing opportunities.
Jon resides in Las Vegas, fairly close to the Nanook Motorsports Compound.
A veteran driver of a variety of open-wheel machines, including memorable stints on some of the famed ovals of USAC, Jon’s driving versatility includes working in television commercials and movies (Driven, Race to Witch Mountain and Talladega Nights: 'The Legend of Ricky Bobby'). He spent four years competing in Alcohol Dragster and Alcohol Funny Car where he scored a win in at Bakersfield Ca, Division 7 Alcohol Funny Car class. He was also a part-time driving instructor at racing schools such as the American Racing Academy at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Jon earned his Funny Car license with the help of savvy veteran tuner and car owner Paul Smith early in 2007 in Florida.
A frequent IHRA Funny Car qualifier, Jon was the runner-up at Rockingham in just his second IHRA start.
Jon made his NHRA Funny Car debut in Las Vegas in April 2007. The highlight for 2007 was when he qualified for the NHRA U.S. Nationals his first time entering the event.
In addition to piloting the Nanook AA/FA, Jon will be coaching and mentoring our son, Kyle who will begin his training and take over his Grandfather’s and Father’s legacy by becoming the 3rd Generation driver of the Nanook AA/FA. Kyle will start making passes soon.
Please stay tuned for video updates showing his progress.
