1971, qualifying day as a high schooler. Got there in a school bus. Had to leave in the same school bus.

As I recall, everyone pitted where they wanted to. I remember a row of funny cars all hauled on open trailers. Things have changed.

been to pomona maybe 4 or 5 times. i guess that pretty good for someone who lives on the east coast. my wife and i fly into LA and stay for a week or more. travel around. we love being in socal. and being at the track on sunday is always a big thrill. standing in front of the museum and then the tram to the fairgrounds is a great way to start the day for someone who could only watch it on tv when i was a kid growing up. never thought i would actually be there. pretty great!!

Been going steady to the Winternationals since 1991. When I was growing up in So Cal (West Covina) we (my Dad and brothers)used to go out Thursday or Friday night and hit all the hotels and see the racecars cause that's where they might be working on them. Saw a lot of big names. I remember going to the race maybe a few times. I remember Irwindale more.
