I seem to remember when Darrell put one on the Bud Dragster that they made him have an on-board fire system and it added too much weight to the car. Big even altered his to make the windshield cover the entire front but left the sides open to get around the "fully enclosed" rule. Has there been anything said about this now? I may have missed it before, and maybe the cars have changed so much that it won't matter but I seem to remember that it mattered enough then that Gwynn removed it soon after he installed it.
Of course Big did a canopy because he tried just about everything - the ultimate innovator in an era when radical technical innovation was an essential and exciting part of Top Fuel.
More of a spec. class now, where getting anything approved and agreed is like passing a kidney stone?
