Milan

Did anyone else notice on Dan Hixes funny car, right behind the header’s, that it said - Scrappers? Would this have anything to do with Mike or the Salina’s (sponsored)?

Why don't they just call it and finish it up tomorrow on Sunday. 20% rain in the AM and sunny.
Because most have to be on the road because they have to work on Monday. If you watched the last race that carried over to Sunday, A bunch of drivers bailed because of that reason.

What you think I've never been in that situation?
Many Monday mornings going to work with no sleep because we had to drive all night.

Well they called it.

I would call all of the alcohol racers throughout the country and ask them what it would take to have them commit to a 16 car field of funny car and dragster. What type of purse would make you a committed regular to this series? I was told by several alcohol racers in the past that money wasn’t a motivator for them because they considered racing a working man’s hobby and didn’t want to be obligated to a particular schedule. It was strictly for fun. Is that still the case? If I were the IHRA the fuel cars would be gone after tonight. That was embarrassing. And someone explain to me how snowmobiles became a thing? Am I missing something here? They need to pare down their classes like the PDRA does and forget about competing with the NHRA. Create their own niche.
Do you have the same opinion about the NHRA. There's been plenty of times that the fuel cars have had really bad qualifying rounds. If I'm not mistaken one of the rounds at Seattle only 2 TF cars and 4 FC made it down the track

FC and TF are 1000’? Just saw Scott Palmer run a 3.88 at 290 something. Kinda hung Lex Joon out time wise, not too bad though. Gerta and Lex might be a little butt hurt about it, but it wasn’t extreme.

I disagree with TJ Jr., the announcer, on that. He tried to make a big deal about it, but It wasn’t that bad. I’ve seen longer in NHRA.
Yeah, I remember at Indy one year a top fuel team was being hung out so bad, the guy who pulls the car into the beems stepped over the car and started screaming at the starter.

I was there for a few days.
Yeah the size of some of the fields wasn't good, but with the late announcement of the season it's rough for some teams to pivot.

It was an ok crowd but with the heat and pending rain understandable.

It is great to have a place for new and/or underfunded nitro teams to work on their tune up, race day process and to get a little exposure. I do hope the fields get fuller. It's only their second event and both have been hit by rain. It'll get better as they do more and learn more.

Pro Mod had a great turnout, I think in part because they announced the $125K pro mod race that was going to be in Kil-Kare is being moved to Milan in 2 weeks. Should be a great show. I think some teams were there to get some track time for the big money event. I haven't seen too many details on it. I hope they go beyond a 16-car field for it.

The had a giant screen in the pits, that was nice as you could see what was going on while also walking around.

Uhhhh naming every track the same name is not a good look. Is George Foreman running this thing? The poor announcer stumbled over it several times trying to talk about the first race and then future races on the schedule. Darana Dragstrip Ohio of wait Darana Ohio dragway cuz the other Darana is also in Ohio. The comments I heard regarding the names were not flattering. Bad Marketing idea when people can't tell what is where with a product. Plaster Darana everywhere at the tracks, that's fine but don't confuse people with naming them all the same. And no, switching between motorpark, dragway and, dragstrip is not enough of a difference. Things like Milan Dragway presented by Darana and National Trails presented by Darana would sound better.

Don't know who thought to put a semi-trailer with a band in front of the spectator side grandstands. They sounded ok but playing music over the PA would have done would have allowed them to fill down time as needed and the tower would have better control of it. These guys would often play between runs so you couldn't hear the announcer at times. Plus it blocked a good chunk of the stands. At one point the announcer started talking that two cars needed to be mov.......that's all we got. The band started playing and you couldn't make out anything else. You could tell the announcer was still going but have no idea what he has saying,

I'll go again when they're in town of course I'll have triple check that I am heading to the right Darana motor drag stripping way. Imagine the embarrassment of heading to Darana only to find out I missed by a few hundred miles as they are at one of the other Darana's.

It was great to see Dan Hix do so well on his first time out. He seems like a really good and humble guy who appreciates being where he is and the people around him. Hopefully before the end of the season Eric Stevens will enter a race with his beautiful American Thunder funny car.

PJ, I agree with everything you mentioned, I also had the same idea on how the name should be presented. Wasn't a fan of the short 1/8 mile track. With that short track your run is won or lost on the tree and 60' time. Not a chance of chasing the opponent down. Even the TF Harleys wanted 1/4 mile. I can understand shut down area so if a car can run low 210mph and stop before the cat litter go for it. Then back the track length down according to trap speed.
The MMP/S's speed was a joke compared to when they run NHRA.
Milan, KillKar, and Columbus can both handle 210 full track. Don't know about 42
I watched more ProMod than I've ever done. Becoming a fan, (don't tell anyone). Lol

Pro Mod is one of my favorite classes but at least for me, 1/4 is so much better than 1/8. It’s obvious the majority of pro mod racers prefer the shorter distance. I would travel to Bradenton for one of the winter series races if they ran 1/4. I’m glad it’s growing on you.
