Mike Strasburg Results....

Rat

NHRA handled it right. He can come back in Sonoma and original fine will last. I agree with this.

I'am very happy that Mike is going to be back racing.
I don't want to sound negative about NHRA, but I think they did it this way to show people they mean business. In this case they most likely found they were wrong, or they would not have changed his suspension, but did it this way to save face.....which is a big deal for NHRA officials.

:confused:Huh ??? How does that show NHRA being wrong? The man is still suspended and the original $$ fine must be paid. What it shows is that the Strasburg team did its homework, the appeal was heard and the penalty was reduced by NHRA based on the facts presented. That is why appeals exist.

Too much tea leaf reading. Good for the team, and the sanctioning body !!

Sounds to me like the appeal was heard, the facts came out, and the right call was made. The punishment fit the crime and everybody should be pleased.

As has been said on many other sites the NHRA drug testing policy needs to be updated. I asked my doctor about the urine test and he said that there is absolutely no need for two vials. Also, the way the test is now done can easily be falseified. The pee test used universally in business is witnessed so a person cannot substitute a good sample. This is not done by the NHRA contractor.
The pee test is also not the only one that can be done easily and quickly with an immediate result, there are others. NHRA should look into these options also.
I believe in the need for a very stringent drug policy but the way it is being done today needs to be tweaked to bring it from the 20th to the 21st century.
