Force's Fine

Whatever. Whatever.

My ceremony? Perhaps you meant "you're right". And yes, I am.

Whatever means I have a valid point you have no answer for.

My Apples are Red and my Oranges are Orange. Other peoples milage may vary.

Your a Force supporter thick and thin. Thats great. But you could hardly compair a safety issue with one that was clearly Profit driven. Safety being much more severe than any profit driven infraction. Stuff does happen. Even if your just moving forward and back. If it had been a rented track things would be differant. We don't know how many bistandards there were. There was NHRA people there to walk up to them. So obvious there were bistandards not part of JFR that were not aware of what was being done.

If you do any research, you'd know that is the farthest thing from the truth. I'm usually accused of being a die-hard Shoe/Beckman fan, and a Force hater.

Your arguments would actually carry some weight if there was a single correctly-spelled, well-formed sentence involved...

If spelling and sentence structure are grade points on getting Mater Cred, then we are all in trouble. Who cares about spelling if you can read what it says and understand it. JMO

The point, I think, is WHY DOES CHEWING GUM WHILE WALKING BACKWARDS at an NHRA event require a fine? If you do something wrong, tell them to stop it, go on with life. I don't get why every decision from NHRA requires someone to pay a fine????

I used to knock points off my student's tests if they didn't show their work
because I learned that just telling them to show their work didn't work. By
taking points away, I made them suffer the consequence of their actions.
they started showing work after that. Just telling them "don't fo that again
is not sufficient. Just like the loss of points encourages teams to not oil
down the track.

In my opinion, fines should commensurate with (a) the infraction and (b) what a team can pay.

Tom,

So you are saying, racers are like children and unable to comprehend a serious conversation.

In your analogy, NHRA is the teacher and Racers are just little kids who need to be told how to behave at all times. I think you have the roles reversed. ;)

Last question, did you remove those test score points the 1st test/time the students didn't follow directions or did you get them a chance to get on board with your program??

Not trying to argue, probably shouldn't even care as it isn't my money or team. But the whole idea of money fines seem so absurd to me. Take points, ban them from racing at the next event if it is so serious. If you can just pay your way out of something, then that appears as greed in my book. JMO

I wasn't trying to impugn racers, not by any stretch (by the way, I was teaching college students, not little kids).

I took points off for reach infraction. Some got on board, others didn't. :(

I guess the point I am trying to make is to fine (in whatever form you choose) people in such a way that it hurts when they violate the rule.

Tom,

I could have sent a PM, but this is easier. Please don't take my post as being mad at you. I was just pointing out, or maybe restating my position, against NHRA fining the very people who give them a product to sell. :D

If I was a bit too abrasive I didn't mean it that harshly. Sorry buddy.

PS, College students that can't follow directions need their butt kicked ;) :D

So your one of those that when the debate is lost you resort to spelling and punctuation critique because you have nothing else to use as your weapon? Did you not understand what I said? With your last statement who's intellect is in question? I appologize for my spelling. I sir can admit when I am wrong about something. Can you? I already know what your answer is. Your answer here

Also, I just found my autographed "card" (if that is what is called) signed by Austin Coil, John Force, and a few others, dated 1987, when force was not with Ford.

Cool! I've got a connecting rod hanging in my office, autographed by Force at the Texas Motorplex, 1987, along with the ET and speed from the engine the rod came out of (5.25, 272)

Those great big fines (Schumacher's in particular), in my opinion, were levied for the same age-old reasoning behind lots of decisions. "Why does a dog lick his nuts"?

Because he CAN.

And here I thought I was going to get Rick Rolled! :D

Different venue for me. This is when Kansas City International Raceway was an AHRA sanctioned track. Austin instructed a crew member to give me a pinion gear -- no souvenir shop, straight from the pits!

Heck I even saw the Chi-Town Hustler when Frank was driving for them.
