Lee set for action at inaugural Sooner Nationals

TULSA, Okla. - IHRA Torco Pro Nitro Funny Car driver Paul Lee and the Rislone Engine Treatment/ J & B Motorsports team are ready to bring IHRA style Nitro Racing to Oklahoma for this weekend's inaugural Skull Shine Sooner Nationals presented by Wolverine and Academy Sports + Outdoors at Tulsa Raceway Park. The event marks the third stop on the IHRA Knoll Gas Nitro Jam tour.

Lee, from Bala Cynwyd, Pa., looks forward to racing at a facility with as much history as Tulsa Raceway Park.

"I've never had a chance to race at this track," said Lee. "We're really looking forward to it. We've heard a lot of good things about the quality of the racing surface and the facility. The track also has a lot of history. Back in the 70's they had the PRO races which are in a couple of the old racing movies. This will actually be my first visit to Oklahoma, so I'm looking forward to that as well. The team has done a lot of work to the car since Rockingham. Everything is fresh and ready to go."

Team Owner Jeff McGaffic also reports the signing of several new associate sponsors for this weekend's event.

"We're very pleased to have several new associate sponsors on board," stated McGaffic. "Our new partners are Zephyr Cleaners and Polishes, Jet - Wilton Metalworking and Material Handling and Smart Washer Bioremediating Parts Washers. They all offer quality products and services and we're proud to be associated with them."

"We would also like to send our sincerest get well wishes to Kaylee Greer, an 8 year old Jr. Dragster driver who was injured," added McGaffic. "We stopped by and visited her in the hospital the other day, and she is truly making an amazing recovery. We would also like to send our best wishes and gratitude to Lee McKinney who used to work for IHRA but is now serving our country in Iraq."

"We're looking forward to getting back out to the track with our new Crew Chief Mike Smith. Hopefully we can get this Rislone/Bar's Leaks car turned around this weekend and back to the form we're used to."

Qualifying begins on Friday with one session that evening. Qualifying resumes on Saturday with one day session and concludes with the Warren CAT "Night of Fire" show. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday.
