I'd love to see a shot from the driver's POV... That's A LOT of hood to be looking around, it seems...

Harold Martin's design was really swoopy like this too. I think it is cool, but truly pushes the envelope to the edge of a mustang... I wonder if the manufacturers get uptight about this type of stuff?

didn't they have trouble with the Pro Stock Mustangs because of the aero disadvantage? This certainly isn't the first pro mod to be chopped so dramatically. Other than a wheelbase limitations (which isn't factory specs either), are there any rule guidelines that protect factory body panel dimensions?

When has Pro Mod ever been about factory body dimensions? The iconic car of the class is Scotty Cannon's Killer Red Mater, a '41 Willy's that didn't share very many factory body dimensions with a '41 Willy's. Chip King's Daytona would probably be the genesis of re-interpretting what a Pro Mod car could and/or should be for current set of runners. EVERYONE I know looked at King's car and said to themselves "the price of poker is going up". Throw turbos in the mix and you '63 Vettes that look nothing like Vettes and now Moran's Mustang.

Personally, I love it. We have Pro Stock for cars that are supposed to be some type of representation of cars on the street. I am cool with the fact that Pro Mods can go wild if you have got the dollars and the imagination.

Hell, I wanna see a Jaguar E Type Pro Mod or an AMC Pacer Pro Mod or a Ford F150 Pro Mod and so on, and so on ...

Nice post. I loved seeing the creations of Pro Mod back when IHRA was awesome. And the variety.

And your right, its Pro STOCK (should look stock right?) and pro MODIFIED

Too bad Ill never get to see it (here we go again... bring pro mod to BIR)

Here is, literally, a funny car body with doors.

Pro Mod has always been about wild representations of actual cars. Not at all surprised that we've arrived at this point.

You want actual OEM bodies? Try a drag radial class.

I think that started the Trend! Once IHRA allowed that car, everyone started changing the molds!

I was fortunate to see Pro Mod back in 2005 at Indy and I've been hooked ever since. I agree, this class needs more exposure...BRING PRO MOD TO BIR !!!!
