Maple Grove (4 Viewers)

everybody has the best idea of what should have been done, but how many of you did it truly effect ? ! I live 5 hours from the Grove. I have 1 crew member that was gonna fly in at my expense , 1 was gonna drive 8-9 hours which I cover his expenses as well. I'd probably spent $1000 on diesel fuel. plus another $5-600 on a motel room for the guys. also a few hundred on groceries and beverages . Now if you go up and sit for 4 days in rain, you're out every penny. Now double that if we get rained out and have to go back again for the rescheduled date. But of coarse we spend that if we get the race in. so either way it's a gamble. Officials are put between a rock and a hard place when the forecast looks the way it does. So how does a corporate person make the right decision to please everyone? you absolutely CAN'T! So quit saying what should have been done unless you've been put in that spot and made the decision to please EVERYBODY!

I work for a fortune 250 company and have worked for several yote out of your mind if you think leadership changes at this pace are uncommon. As for the tracks being ready I may have let out some info I wasn't supposed to

Not sure if you agree or disagree with me but a fortune 250 company is probably 100 times the size of IHRA

I've also worked for large corporations (Fortune 300). The corporation that had stable leadership are still thriving. One that had frequent management changes went under. The one I was just laid off from had frequent leadership changes and is currently cutting employees every day while the stock price dropped for $24 to $7.50 in less than a year.

I worked for a guy that I will say was at the same success level as DC. We flew around on corporate jets traveling all over the US. He expected everyone to be as committed to HIS company as he was. You were at his beck and call 24-7 if he called at 2 am you answered or he called til you did then got reamed for not answering. Those people work on an entirely different level than normal people. I made five years and had to get out as MY life was being destroyed. He had maybe 5 people that were with him from the start and spent 20+ years with him. They all had zero family life and spent most of their life at the company. If you didn't want that you were gone. Also in that position there is no board members to answer too, all the decisions are his and his alone. His money his rules, totally different business than anything with investors.. He has personally had to secure any loans, collateral if he hasn't used all his own money.

I was looking forward to driving down Thursday but was watching the weather and fully understand their decision. Not only was a lot of rain forecast but with highs in the 50s track conditions would have been sketchy at best - MMPS would have been epic though.

The weather this spring has been Sh*t. We opened our lake house in MI mid-April normally it's April 1st. I put our Tritoon in the water last Fri and went for a ride. I was shocked at the number of docks and boat lifts still not in, looked like begin of April not one week from Memorial Day weekend.
It's almost like the Callender is off. As a kid I used to get my 1st sunburn on Easter break and summer doesn't end till Oct 1st.

I was planning on heading there Friday after a trip to the Shady Maple for breakfast. Glad they postponed it instead of NHRA getting everyone there just to sit in the rain for a money grab for the fans.
