Maple Grove (5 Viewers)

We'll see about this one.
yes. it will be interesting to see the fan turnout for maple grove. IF [and its a big if] a large number of nhra fans show up to maple grove because a love of that track and the years of going to the nhra event, that could entice more big show cars to attend next yr. And that possibility begs another question- will the ihra will be in business next yr. I say that with all seriousness because the erratic behavior we are seeing with the spending frenzy and firing of good people who were hired to do a job and fired by text when they tell the truth to the person at the top is extremely worrisome. I have worked for 2 very wealthy bosses who exhibited the very same behavior. Time will tell....

They should have a very solid crowd. They are running 1000’ foot and there are some NHRA regulars running. Are these same fans going to come out for an 8 car field, 1/8 mile with the IHRA regulars? At Virginia they didn’t.
Maple Grove fans are dedicated, if the weather is nice they sold out the NHRA race year in and out. We will see what happens Memorial Day weekend.

rite now there are 13 FC's for 8 spots. IMO it is somewhat clever what they are doing at these (3) t. crown races.
even if you don't qualify, you collect 10k for running both qualifying passes.
at nhra events, you mite make a little more for not qualifying? but you have to make all the passes to collect the biggest amount.
if you qualify at an nhra event, you make even a little more for an E1 loss, but now you've made 4-5 passes to collect it.
i think we'll see some drama in maple grove. after Q1 some teams will know whether or not they can run the bump e.t.
some will not go for it and just make a respectable pass, save parts, and collect the 10k. probably those with little experience to 1000'?
everyone else will go for it. hero or zero for an extra 30k, and a shot at much more.

Do we know for sure it will be an 8 car field with 2 qualifying attempts ? I realize this is the format that is used for their regular races but not sure I have seen this specified for the triple crown (But I may have missed it).

go to ihra.com, click on 'drag racing', then click on maple grove event,
then scroll to bottom and click event schedule ..... there is a typo, both Q's are listed as Q1

I wonder if everyone will really get the advertised payout? And will we hear about that accurately, one way or the other?

I recall with the PRO Superstar Shootout in Bradenton, that I never heard whether the payouts ended up being as big as advertised, but the consensus seemed to be that they were much lower.

It's pretty obvious that this is Not the PRO Superstar Shootout and I have not heard any of the racers mention at all that the IHRA has not paid out what they said that they would.

With IHRA scheduling races on NHRA weekends and Maple Grove stacked on Indy 500 weekend, they are making it very difficult to establish a fan base, that and obvious front office issues and empty stands make their survival chances slim @ best. IMO.
Wondering if we will ever get the real story

Maple Grove long had an NHRA divisional race on Memorial Day weekend. They always got big crowds on Saturday with fireworks after the race and $25/carload pricing.

There’s only so many weekends available to race. It’s inevitable that there will be some overlap. NHRA held a National at Topeka for many years on Memorial Day weekend.

Any rapidly growing company will have staff turnover- some more than others. This is no different.

Along with the fact of how much overlap is there in fan base between Indy 500 and drag racing 600 miles east ?? How many are actually going to commute to Indy ?? high probability they are going to be local so why not go to the drag races. Again to piggyback on what I said in another thread no matter what DC does with the IHRA you guys are cheering on his failure and will jump up and down yelling I told you so.
Show some support and cheer him on

Why are these people so threatened by IHRA? Do they think the payouts are going to increase even more??

For many years NHRA ran Topeka Memorial Day, that's 550 miles from Indy. Reading is 600 Miles from Indy.

Don't remember much hate for Topeka, so why so much for Reading?
