You know after thinking about it, now at race # 5 I think she may have already gone from 100% to 90%. But...... better turn down the volume when she get's that first Wally!

Maybe she really doesn’t need to change anything if they can just move the microphone back another 80 feet or so when doing interviews.

Coming from the "Grumpy Old Guy" group, I really can't think of a driver that this sport needed more. The emotion is great. And the fact that she appears to be "unjaded" is very refreshing. She came up the right way, she has injected a youthful exuberance that we haven't seen in a few years, and she can wheel. Anyone who can drive a TAFC then hop into a TF Dragster has ability, there is no doubt. And it's not lost on me that it has likely affected Ron Capps the driver as well as the whole class as nothing but positive. I bet Carlyle sells some tools this year. It was cool to see Vandergriff get his first Wally, but the day that she gets hers is the one I'm looking forward to.

Your points are all well taken. And I am a big Maddi Gordon fan as well. But I still maintain that if she tones it down just a little, then she would be easier on the ears for people like me and Chris. No boring script needed. She can still be her very excited self, of course, but how about just a 90% version, vs the 100% version we have seen so far.

How do you tell someone, "your interviews are great, but tone it down about 10%"? Now that person has to think about it, and it stops being natural. In time I'm sure she'll get to 90% without trying, although I'm fine with Maddi at 100.

Yes, it will be cringeworthy. Make sure to have the noise-canceling headphones handy for that if you’re at the track.

If at home, wrap all the wineglasses in the house with foam….put the dog out.

It's just nice to see a 21 year old woman doing something with her life besides marching in the street carrying some sort of protest sign. Let the girl jump with joy all she wants. After all, how many of us have been 340mph in a fuel dragster?

It’s like going to your granddaughters game and cheering her on. What’s not to like? I think us old guys trying to shape her interviews is just crazy. She’s good and having fun.
