I noticed in her interviews she uses hand expressions almost like sign language, totally enjoy listening and watching her talk!I don't care how fast she talks. I care about how fast she drives. I absolutely love her.
I second that statement, as an old grumpy guy (as well) and Drag fan. I saw an interview showing background and she is into this neck deepAs a grumpy old guy, I think her energy and skill is a breath of fresh air. She’s going to be dynamite. Also cool that she’s teamed with Capps. Classy guy building his own team.
Yikes. She’s flying, but jeez I have to mute or ffwd her interviews, because her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Shrieky, rapid and high pitched…I mean…damn! Biting on tinfoil.she talks too fast for some of us old guys but we aren't the focus audience
Imagine if she wins Maple Grove in front of all the NAPA folks.Did you hear the crowd roaring for her and the way that she has already connected with them?? She has a "joy" in everything she does, that is just infectious. So refreshing in the current corporate motorsports world. I bet you Capps is feeling like the smartest guy in the world today.
Mark my words, she will have a greater impact on our sport than anyone has for a LONG time (not talking about wins)...
She could use some coaching with those top end interviews. Does she like what she hears when she watches the tapes? Interestingly, she doesn't talk that way when she is in the pits working on the family TA/FC. I get it - not as much adrenalin in the pits, but still.....Yikes. Alan:Just curious Jon,
If you were her coach, what would you tell her? If she was my driver, I wouldn't let a coach anywhere near her because I LOVE the raw enthusiasm. And I wouldn't want anyone to water that down. I sure wouldn't want her to start just reciting a script. I think she's very good at getting the sponsors mentioned while still coming across as genuinely exciting and happy to be there.
Alan
No doubt. I DO like her a lot and love the enthusiasm. But her voice makes my ears close up.I think Capps hit a home run in selecting her and her interviews are a big part of that.
We need the fresh energy, go get them girlMaddi if your reading any of this DON'T CHANGE A THING!
Alan:
Your points are all well taken. And I am a big Maddi Gordon fan as well. But I still maintain that if she tones it down just a little, then she would be easier on the ears for people like me and Chris. No boring script needed. She can still be her very excited self, of course, but how about just a 90% version, vs the 100% version we have seen so far.
You know after thinking about it, now at race # 5 I think she may have already gone from 100% to 90%. But...... better turn down the volume when she get's that first Wally!Alan:
