Lets discuss Charlotte, rain and Tony Schumacher (4 Viewers)

Did I hear twice today that Schumacher’s team was fired and they have new people now? Angry hornet is still there I think. Just checking my hearing

Edit, this was mentioned just prior to his Q1 on Friday, and something was also mentioned before Q2…if you play it, see if you agree. For the record, I think switching out an entire crew in a week would be a little bit hard.

I heard that as well, but I think they were describing how the crew was hastily pieced together near the end of last year when the team was formed.
Rich is correct. They were talking about how the team was formed last season.

If this is true, could the crew issue have been a factor with the rear end failures they have had? I know we have read here that supposedly those were related to chassis set-up, and not necessarily a failure of the rear end due to design or manufacturing defects.
Yes the crew could have been a factor. I know when we ran out car I had different motor plates and rear end plates. I adjusted how hard the car would hit by changing the motor angle. The RWR crew chief are "old school" also and may have done the same. If so the pressure of being out of line would cause the rear end to boom.

a few years ago schumacher had AJ tuning for him, and DK had Jim O.
complete 180 now. call it what you want, but IMO it's an interesting twist.
Going to be interesting watching RWR this year. Big investment with full time second car and Jon O. So far the 3 crew chief scenario is not paying off for either car. Hope they turn things around soon, Rick Ware seems pretty calm and level headed but for how long? Tony's crew is new but Clay's has been together for awhile, somebody needs to step up.
Probably helps that he's not spending out of his pocket, he's the King of sponsorship!

well, in clay's last video from zmax, he mentioned they shut him off in E1 quad with a hole out,
a race he felt they would have finished 2nd and advanced. IMO it seems like they may have orders in place
to do everything in their power to not blow stuff up? (i.e. watching the budget)

I agree. So far the season is terrible, although it looked really good on paper. He keeps saying the big difference is the canopy and that completely screwed up the tuning strategy because of the weight in the wrong place. Remember Doug Kalitta’s setup with the canopy car a few years ago? They couldn’t get that running either. They switched back to open cockpit and it flew right away.

Clays team also has some newbies. They lost Izzy and Blaine and at least one other I think.

Jessie holds the button. After todays good pass he and Jon O had some words. Jon O wouldn't tell Joe C. what was said.

That small change (to the canopy) seems so unlikely to cause a big problem. Though your point about Doug's car is a good one.

But the same thing happens with a new (different weight) driver, right? Maddi Gordon would sure be a featherweight, but they have had no problem adjusting to her weight. What have we heard the canopy weighs? 22 lbs?

22 lbs plus the downforce generated.and airflow around it.......

Today after Clay's run Jason Galvin said that both teams had multiple personnel changes. Clay is pretty up front on his youtube channel I'd be surprised if he didn't talk about it. Pretty sure Blaine and Izzy were in his Charlotte videos.

Blaine and Izzy have been gone for this whole season I think. Curious what they are doing now.

They sure did. That is not a good look, guys! Some friction in that group for sure, let’s hope they all play nice and keep their minds on what they're doing.
