LE Tonglet hopes to shake slump at Arizona Nationals (1 Viewer)

His second NHRA Countdown to the Championship campaign hasn’t brought the success it did a year ago when he won four of the six playoff races to clinch the Pro Stock Motorcycle championship, but LE Tonglet hopes to bust out of his slump Sunday and visit the Arizona Nationals winner’s circle.

“We haven’t been able to run like we did last year, and that has been very disappointing,” said Tonglet, who is eighth in Full Throttle Series points.

He did win four races this year – at Atlanta, Chicago, Sonoma, Calif. and Brainerd, Minn. – but the Nitro Fish/Tonglet Racing Suzuki GSXR has won only two rounds in the first three Countdown events.

“We sent our motor back to Vance and Hines (last week after the race at Reading, Pa.) and we hope it will run fast this weekend,” he commented.

This is the first appearance at Firebird Raceway for Tonglet and the PSM contingent, so all the tuners will be busy getting acquainted with track conditions.

“It should be interesting,” he added.
