I have stayed at the Ramada Raceway Inn, or whatever it is for 59.95, not bad actually. It's close to the track also. I prefer to stay on the strip though. Monte Carlo once, and Stratosphere another time. Both nice places.

I've tried to stay on the Strip but HS is it expensive! Any of the 4 star and up joints are easily $250 and up on Friday's and Saturday's! I won't even waste my time with the Frontier or the Riviera or any of those Older places.

You're right, you can get some great rates at Circus Circus... but as far as I'm concerned that place is a dump (from my previous experiences). Granted I've not been there for a few years...

How was your stay there Tim?

That was my first time to Vegas and you are right, it was a dump. After going to some of the newer casino/hotels, it really seemed old, but I didnt mind paying 50 bucks compared to some of the others after I saw what they were charging:eek: . My wife and I are going back the week after thanksgiving and we are staying at The Venetian.

You'll find out what expensive is in a Hurry there!

NO KIDDING!!! I priced it while I was there and about had a heart attack:eek: , but my wife didnt go this past week and has never been, so I figured it would be worth paying more for her to see the "nicer side" of Vegas:D .

My wife and I have stayed several times at the Stratosphere and we were going to stay there again this year until she scored us some comped rooms at The Venetian. Stratosphere is plenty nice and clean and usually you can get a room on the weeknights for about $59, $99 on weekends.

How the Hell did you score a room at the Venetian? I don't even think of staying at those Strip hotels, $200+ a night is a lot of Natl. event $$$!

We got rooms comped at the Venetian because my wife likes to gamble and is usually pretty lucky. So last January, we went to Vegas with another couple, who had gotten us all rooms at the Venetian comped because this guy will blow 100 grand easy in Vegas. That is entirely out of my league but when we were there, my wife and I got Player's Club cards at Venetian (which we always do when we go to Vegas regardless of where we stay). Anyway, we happened to be out there when the first NHRA test sessions were happening at The Strip. I found a way to the track and take in some test runs, leaving wife at the Venetian and she played and won more than she lost, and lo and behold, she got an invite from the Venetian to come and spend some more money while they comp us a room. We managed to get it while the Nationals were going on. I would never stay there and pay for a room although if her luck is bad, we're gonna end up paying I suppose.
We've always liked the Stratosphere though and we were actually going to stay there until we got the invite from Venetian. Stratosphere wanted $400 for 5 nights, pretty reasonable I think. But, you're definitely right when you talk about the Strip hotels and what they charge. They seem to be more and more catering to the wealthy.
Can't wait! Fly out from MSP 5:30pm Wednesday!
