You guys remember we us to call Pasadena "Pasa-donuts"? Also, going from Glendale to Pasadena, would go over the Suicide Bridge. I think they finally closed it, too many people taking a high dive off that bridge. I remember cruising Van Nuys Blvd. So many cars that you couldn't go much faster than 30 MPH. And I saw Jeff's Woodie run at Fernando. I am glad that car is still around. Man, reading all the above posts, so many memories.
Nice tribute to Larry on Phil Burgess's column this morning,

I am a sorry to say but I won't be able to attend but I have a funny story about Larry. I was helping Larry one race at OCIR and it was night time an Larry asked me to hold a flashlight when he was setting the mag. I did and I saw him put the crank degree wheel on 65 degree, this was his chev car. I said Larry you run 65 he said no 55 but everyone tries too look over my shoulder to see how much lead I run, so I remarked the degree wheel 65 is 55.🤫

One last story about my buddy Larry. At Lions Larry was in the right lane during top fuel eliminations I saw light smoke coming out of the breathers, I checked his oil pressure gage and it was low. I made a NOT so demanding suggestion that he needed to shut it off, he shook his head no, so using my arm I signaled to him and LIPPED HALF PASS, I did it twice. Larry shook his head OK. He went the full quarter mile and the crank came out at the finish line, causing him to crash. As they put Larry on the stretcher. Larry said I should have listened to Sutton.

I can't make it I have prior plans that I can't change, I will be there in sprite and thinking of Larry that day RIP, old friend.

Larry, you can keep the stories coming all day long. I'm sure we all love to read them.
Thank you Jon,
I just don't want to over load this site with my stories. with over 67+ years around drag racing there is at least one story about every so. cal. racer in the early days or racing in general. I will try to fit some in when the time is right. I am 81 years old now and I have said before I will never right a book, many have asked. Not all of them I can tell, some bring back bad memories.
thanks again

Ladies and gentlemen: the story you are about to hear is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the guilty.
