Well, it does re-air early tomorrow morning, if anyone is still up.:)

5/7/2008 Repeat Eliminations
3:30:00 AM-5:30:00 AM (ET) ESPN2

My 'still stuck in the 90's' vcr let me down this weekend, good thing they repeat them.

they are cutting an hour so who knows what might hit the floor. And while Shirley was on the phone, Ashley was in the booth, looking very uncomfortable, I might add.

d'kid

Not to slander the queen... but Ashley really needs to learn to smile infront of the cameras. She was the same way on NHRA ForceDay. On the aforementioned broadcast, Mike Dunn even commented "that got a smile out of you" after her team mate won. Her PR people really need to drill that into her. I mean, c'mon - she's hot, she's good, she's got a better job than most girls her age.... she needs to be more like her Dad.... Life is Good!

She got that non-smiling face from her mom.... ever notice that it's hard for Laurie to smile? No bashing, just sayin'

She may need to smile more often, but she's got a great smile. Give her some time, she's had an awfull lot thrown at her in a short amount of time. I'm sure she's working hard to sound articulate, plug the sponsors, relay what happened, etc., all the while trying not to make mistakes, especially when she's interviewed after a run. Nothing is ever as easy as it looks.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch :)
Team Kallitta is a wonderful bunch! What they bring to the table is immeasurable............
Having said that, I think they benefit greatly from an experieced chief. Tobler before and Hogan now..........
Not a put down to anyone, just stating my opinion with respect to how difficult it is to get one of these cars to perform :D

I just listened to the TiVo, and here's a quote of what she said.

"I have a lot of respect for what Shirley did as a racer when she raced, I don't know how she feels about me, it doesn't matter, I'm thankful for what she did. She showed that a woman could drive a racecar, not only drive it well, but be a winner in our sport, I mean, she won three championships, that's awesome. I'm thankful for that. At the end of the day, I just want to be a racer."

Shirley said after that, and I quote again. "I think it's really important what I think of the other drivers."

Nothing offensive about that at all.

The Bounty Hunter just bought 2 brand new freighters from Boeing, and officially christened and named one of them after his late brother, Doug Kalitta Sr. That's pretty cool, ain't it? Having your name on a piece of aluminum weighing roughly 400 tons, traveling around the globe about 7 miles up in the air. What a great tribute to Senior!

That is pretty darn close to flying with the Angels!!! We sure do miss Senior! i think it is a lovely tribute to such a wonderful man.

Last saturday afternoon I was at a friends house and he had just bought a DVD with drag racing from the early 60s from Sanford ME., New England Dragway and Conn. Dragway. Anyway, the segment on Conn. Dragway was a top fuel deal with several cars in attendance including Connie Kallita.
Keep in mind there was no audio on this deal so it was a little hard to follow along but it was quite obvious Connie was kicking some serious butt, In the final he smoked the tires hard for the full quarter mile, A good thing in 1965, and won the event. When they pushed him back to the pits he was all smiles and waving at everyone.
Then I got home and watched the qualifying show on ESPN and Grubby rips that 4.46 and Connie goes ballistic!!!
My point? Great to see the man gets as pumped today as he did 43
years ago with a good pass.
I hope 43 years from now he still gets pumped up with a good pass!!!!!!:):)

connie is amazing and a legend. very cool naming the plane after sr. i just hope hillary can make shirley proud and win a few this year!

I have a photo on my refrigerator taken at the 1962 Indy nationals of me and the "Bounty Hunter" dragster. Conrad was a cool dude in 1962 and he is a cool dude in 2008, I can assure everyone I have been a Kallita fan for the last 46 years!!;)

I have said it a thousand times on here ... and it will probably be said a thousand more:

I wish I had a dollar for everytime someone said Conrad (or his teams) were done.
