Did someone say John Force just jumped into a pro ride or did I read that completely wrong? I may only be 21 but I love to read drag racing history and if I am not mistaken john force has been racing nitro funny car since 1973 and had a fuel altered before that . The thing with john force is he comes from a time when you could go nitro racing as a hobby and just kept racing as it progressed to the proffesional ranks it is now .

As for whether he broke the rules or not well thats upto the officials isn't it .

Willam,

Like you, I am not well-versed on how John Force got into Funny Cars as regards any racing he did as a preliminary "training ground" to prepare him for Fuel Funny Cars.

From what some people said in previous posts, it would lead one to believe that he began by racing a '50 Olds Stock Eliminator car, eventually graduating to an A Stocker at some point, and then went into Super Stockers, finally ending up with a '68 Hemi Barracuda in SS/BA.

From that springboard, he could have graduated to a gasoline-powered Altered, and then took a quantum leap to a Fuel Altered, which back then was basically just a Funny Car chassis and drivetrain, with a "T-Bucket" body, and his metamorphosis from Sportsman Stock Eliminator driver to F/C pilot would be complete!

That was the picture I got from some posts that seemed to indicate that he "came up through the ranks" into a Fuel Funny Car.

Somehow, a part of me doesn't want to believe that it happened that way.

Does someone who actually KNOWS what John's driving history is, insofar as what kinds of cars he drove on the strip in the time before he started driving floppers? I'd love to hear the whole story; as it is, I know nothing.

Thanks for any information.

Bill

Bill, I will look back on some of my old fan club stuff and see if I can find some info on that. I believe I recall some stories written by his brother on this subject. I don't think he just "jumped" into a flopper. And I can't believe the disrespect some of you people show that man. Were you people actually there when these incidences took place or are you going on he said she said crap. Force has done alot for this sport especially after Eric's tragedy regarding safety. I really doubt he would do anything intentionally to put another driver in harms way. And I wouldn't compare the situation with Force and Bode to that of Bazemore. It's pretty obvious that Baze didn't know when to shut up by the pop in the mouth by Cappsie!!!!!(who is my fav crew guy!!!!:D;)) That is just my $.05 worth.
