Willam,
Like you, I am not well-versed on how John Force got into Funny Cars as regards any racing he did as a preliminary "training ground" to prepare him for Fuel Funny Cars.
From what some people said in previous posts, it would lead one to believe that he began by racing a '50 Olds Stock Eliminator car, eventually graduating to an A Stocker at some point, and then went into Super Stockers, finally ending up with a '68 Hemi Barracuda in SS/BA.
From that springboard, he could have graduated to a gasoline-powered Altered, and then took a quantum leap to a Fuel Altered, which back then was basically just a Funny Car chassis and drivetrain, with a "T-Bucket" body, and his metamorphosis from Sportsman Stock Eliminator driver to F/C pilot would be complete!
That was the picture I got from some posts that seemed to indicate that he "came up through the ranks" into a Fuel Funny Car.
Somehow, a part of me doesn't want to believe that it happened that way.
Does someone who actually KNOWS what John's driving history is, insofar as what kinds of cars he drove on the strip in the time before he started driving floppers? I'd love to hear the whole story; as it is, I know nothing.
Thanks for any information.
Bill
