OK..I'll start it! WTF

Where's Terry Jones when ya need him? Word from the pits says nobody wants to race next to him!! Oh..sorry..that was Ashley.

Glad Fast Jack got off the peddle. That's about as far sideways without crashin that I've ever seen.

Lucked out on that one.

Just goes to show that even with the experience he has that it is real easy to get in trouble.

What kills me is his lack of knowledge for the rules. During the interview he stated he was staying in it just in case the other guy redlite? Hello? you crossed the center line already, your done even if the other guy had redlit.

Reminds me of that fiasco a couple years ago when both he and the other car took off before the tree was activated. He stormed the tower on TV ranting and raving about first or worst and didn't understand why both of them were DQ'd.

I guess that's the difference between a real sportsman racer working his way up thru the ranks vs. somebody just jumping right into a pro ride.

"The other car" was Bob Bode. And Force was right, he should have been given the round win. Both cars were prestaged, I was standing on the starting line. At the time, it was a gray area in the rule book, they changed it because of that instance.
And as far as Force not knowing the rules, he's been racing for 30+ years, you gonna go school him?

You are kidding, of course.

I think Mike Dunn did a fantastic job of explaining why Force's car took that hard right on the broadcast. It had washed out to the left when it spun the tires, and when Force hit the throttle again he was pointed straight down the track, but the momentum was still carrying the backend around the other way from his correction. So, he hits the throttle, it hooks and hard right into the other lane it goes. Simple physics.

As for the red light comment, Force is always wound up and only knows about half of what is coming out of his mouth anyway, I think he hit the throttle again in Beckman's lane to get out of the way ... when you are in the other lane in front of your competitor, you have to assume they are coming up on your rear and soon!

Glad nothing too serious happened ... good job by Fast Jack and it sure made for interesting TV, though I am sure the principals involved would like for TV to be less interesting in the future. :p

This thread (and the Dixon thread) are the reasons why, despite all the issues/errors the ol' Mater's been having lately, it's always fun to come back. There's always some clown who figures out a whole new way to stick their sneaker in their mouth.

the force haters on here never cease to amaze me , if it was a shumacher funny car the story would be how talented the driver was to make that save.

Oh for crying out loud..... here I go. Thank God this turned out OK for both drivers! Force is the greatest thing to happen to NHRA since Wally Parks. But even my little bald head seems to remember another NHRA driver getting more or less crucified not too long ago right here for inadvertently entering the path of the car in the other lane. It seemed like with that one, all the angry comments in the aftermath were focused on "inexperience", "having no business being in a nitro car", "not thinking", "someone could have been killed". John does it....and it's a little bit different story, huh?

And its why, unless it comes from the keyboard of the guy (or gal) with their butt in the seat, we should all be taking these comments with a grain of salt...;)

nuh uh martin.....it's on the internet so it must be true

MM... I've seen some pics on the Internet of a friend of mine in kind of a compromising position... I REALLY don't want to think of those as "true"!! :D

(Now, how far back was that thread again.....) ;)

Both cars left before the tree was activated. That's an automatic DQ for both drivers, period. There was no gray area.
What I'd like to know is why didn't NHRA punish Force for going after the ESPN camera operator who was taping him while he was in Graham Light's face after being DQ'd? Wait, my bad. He was the golden calf. A different set of rules applies for him and his teeth.
Yet, NHRA fined Whit Bazemore $10k and put him on two years probation for telling Rick Stewart the Pomona track surface was dangerous.

Excuse me for not remembering who the other car was. No disrespect meant to Bode. Force was NOT right. He was disqualified for leaving before the tree was activated. There was no " gray " area. The rule book clearly stated at the time if both drivers leave before the tree is activated both drivers will be disqualified. Since they changed it because of that race then that is just more NHRA favoritism shown to the Force camp. Every single Saturday night bracket racer all the way up to comp and prostock drivers knew that.

( Side note:) the rule book still states " If both drivers leave before the timing system is activated and if unable to determine which car left first then both drivers are disqualified " Page 41. 5th paragraph under staging.

This thread was about this incident this weekend.Sorry to de-rail it. I didn't see anything wrong with his driving this weekend. He was trying to pedal and get round win. I had an issue with his off the wall comment about still being in the hunt in case Beckman was red. That was ludricrous. Hopefully he was rambling and didn't seriously mean it.

You all can bash this all you want, I was refraining from even getting started on this. I do like Force, and I dont know if he did but I payed particulare attention on what was being said at the top end.

Force owes Jack one HUGE appoligy (Publicly as far as I am concearned)
Cardinal Rule #1 You do not go into the other lane! cross the line bounce off the wall but I repeat do not go into your opponets lane, We have this discussion with our driver frequntly if we miss and the car gets loose.
