John Force lost his brakes while staging, will he be DQ'ed like Holden Laris? (1 Viewer)

Brakes stop you...chutes just slow you down. You have to be moving for the chutes to even work. So there is no way John Force was depending on his chutes to stop his car...he knew he had brakes good enough to stop his car and they did. Now his brakes may have not worked very well for staging. But, as I said earlier that is not uncommon, nor is it uncommon to roll past a crew guy or girl on a burnout. It happens all the time.

I agree with Nunz. I think John was asleep at the wheel, woke up, and trucked down the track. When asked about it, he throws on the embellishment to bring light to his sponsor for the weekend and probably wants them to come back on a regular basis. P.T. Barnum at his finest. Enough said!

Another thing to consider is that the hotter they get, the better that carbon brakes work. They may have been weak at the starting line, but all you got to do is stand on them at the big end and eventually they will get to a temperature where they work. Whether he is embellishing or not, I loved the line he gave to his crew, "I have been driving longer than your Daddy has been alive, don't tell me there isn't something wrong with the brakes!"

Brent would you really want a championship potentially decided by the equal enforcement of this rule because it very well may come down to it.

An unbelievable statement.

If a championship is decided by "equal treatment" of this rule (or any rule), so be it. What's next...ignoring red lights and crossing the center line because it might decide a championship?

BTW, I'm not taking any side on this brake issue. I didn't pull on the brake handle so I don't know.

Well, yesterday I got it from Tim White and Terry Blount, who both got it from Graham Light, and they say John was being John and flapping his mouth and it was actually a clutch issue, not brakes, even though he said it was brakes.

Neither had answer for me as to why Eddie Krawiec was not DQ'd even though he made two trips into the sand when he knew he had brake issues yet made his passes anyway. Supposedly they're going to find out an answer and get back to me.

Even Cruz seemed a bit dubious.

Poor John, don't know the difference between brakes and a clutch. Damn rookie.:)

I can just imagine the look on Light's face when that came spewing out of Force's mouth. He had to instantly know this kind of backlash was gonna happen........ Lmao!!

Wasn't something mentioned about how sometimes the clutch can tug harder on the car at the line, making it feel like the brakes aren't holding? Either way the car was able to stop and not just by the chutes. Case closed Brent, find something else to hate on!
Hmmm...my first post on this subject...I told you they said it was probably a clutch issue....

Come on guys you know you can't always believe everything John says in the heat of the moment. In Memphis he said he saw Elvis at 1000 feet...but we all know Elvis had been spotted by numerous people in Las Vegas that same day.:)
elvis is everywhere ......:D

You would be assuming Light is smart enough to catch it?

Oh, absolutely! Lol! With all the flack he caught over the deal with the Super Comp racer (which was the correct call, as far as I'm concerned) being so fresh, I would bet the farm that he had an INSTANT knot in his stomach the more Force talked! Lmao!!
