Yikes, the discussion in that article regarding the use of a blower restrictor plate scares the hell out of me. Restrictor plates are really easy for the sanctioning body to implement but will force teams to develop special blowers, intake manifolds, cams, etc. to best work around the limitations of the restrictor plate.
NASCAR engine development costs went through the roof when the restrictor plates were introduced.
The only way a restrictor plate rule would work without forcing huge development costs by the teams would be to freeze and force use of the current blower, manifold, head and cam designs. But then you essentially have a spec engine, I don't think anyone wants that.
What's the best thing to do? I don't know, but I don't think its a restrictor plate approach.
