Jackie,

Island is going to have to replace guard rails or lose its ins. NHRA is mandating all tracks have the jersey walls in by 2009.

Plus Wall staduim just shut down. It is getting bad for racing in the garden state.

First run my car ever made was at that place-it was great to see the car go straight-it ran a 10 something, but a good 1/8 mile mph.

There is a D1 national open there on May 31.

Is the family planning to replace the guard rails?

My first trip to Island was 1978.

I have spoken to friends that still race there every weekend and stated that Tony first said he didn't think they could do it but as it gets close to the day they are going to do at the end of the season.

We need island with out it we only have Raceway and Atco. Island and Raceway are only 45 mins away from my house. Atco is two hours plus tolls. With my son turning 18 this year. We plan on going to the test and tunes at Island later in the year and next season starting him out in street.

The old man gets back to the track. FUN...

The first time I saw Funny cars it was at Island.I'll never forget it.It was a match race between Mickey Thompsons red and blue cars.Pat Foster and Danny Ongais were awesome that night,I forget who won but I'm still hooked on Drag Racing.RIP Pat Foster.

Island Dragway was the house of hook when I lived up that way. I cut my best, most consistant 60's out there. The only thing I hated was the road leading to the enterance. It would knock fillings right out of your mouth...
