What the heck is a Zend Optimizer and what does it have to do with the forum being down?

I clicked on it and knocked half the servers in the US out!
Thats nothing compared to what happened to my computer.
It's now as large as a couch and I'm dancing on the keyboard to type this in.
The bright side is I can get exercise while surfing the net.
The downside [ always one of those ] is the cordless mouse now has to have two 32 volt truck batteries and I put a four Castor wheel dolly under it to move it.
Yeh those Zend Optimizers are nothing to play around with.
Well the door bell rang and it looks like NASA is here with those white room thingy's so I guess I better run for it.

I'm assuming updates were being done. The Zend Optimizer is a program that enhances PHP code..which this forum is a part. Goes through the code and tweaks it.

Certainly nothing to lose..or gained..by clicking anything while the site is being updated.

For a while there I thought it was a problem with my computer. Glad the hear others had the Zend Optimizer mystery happen to them too!!

Does anyone actually know what the Zend Optimizer is?

Edit: Thanks David for the explanation.

The Zend site is here, Brian..

ZEND PRODUCTS

From a layman's view. Look at it like you're writing the code..Zend software can go through your code and enhance..or tweak it to perform better..or point out errors.

PHP is a standard forum software on the net..so there's a real market for Zend products. You do the grunt work..they make sure the grunts are good..hehe.

Yes I was doing server upgrades. Was hoping not to have any downtime but things didn't go as planned. Were back up and running. Things seem to be faster and that was my goal with the upgrade. Sorry for the downtime.

Yeah thanks Shannon, yesterday was a real hoot wondering WTBeep was going on... ;) Next time give us all a call before you go cleaning house again... :D Downtime?? You owe me a day... :p I accept vcash as well... :)

I was afraid anything involving Zend that I was going to have to learn yoga & chant "nameo ringy kao" over & over.

Looks like it un-optimized itself again this morning. Ever since then there's a few threads that show a blank white page when I click the links.

I am po'd I actually was able to get some work done today since I wasn't able to get in here until late in the day. Now my boss is gonna expect that type of production every day :D

I'm still getting blank white pages on some threads as well

Nice to let us know..that either updates are causing an issue..which I would rather see the place shutdown to initiate (temporarily)..or there is a bigger problem.

I'm kind of having a headache with fixing things that aren't broke.

Last couple days I've seen a flash sort of thingy before the page loads..maybe I'm being scanned...hehe...gawd I hope so..that'll wack 'em up.

I've had that intermitantly for a long time. I had just chalked it up to Vista since that was the only computer it seemed to do it on.
