This might be the first time in the Countdown era that the top four drivers in a category are actually further apart coming out of Indy and the points reset then when they went in. Not accounting for Mission Too-Fast-Too-Tasty bonus points, since they haven't been awarded yet, the spread between first and fourth is 40 points. Coming out of Brainerd it was 22. Coming out of Indy without the reset, the spread would be 69 points, with all being slightly more, but not significantly more, than the reset points.
JR Todd gets the biggest bump of the incoming top 5 from the reset because of his early round loss.
I never imagined the points reset would ever separate drivers and not bring them closer.
