I have never been to that race in person, but the one memory that stands out (to me) is Snake Vs Jim Nicoll in Top Fuel. They went thru the lites & clutch exploded in Nicoll's car, cut it in half, and Prudhomme saw the chassis & engine sliding down the track ahead of him. He thought Nicoll had been killed & he was so shook up, he wanted to quit. That has to be one of the most dramatic moments in drag racing.
How about John Lombardo Jr.? Great to see him win, and how much it meant to him.
Cliff, you've got to go. There's nothing like it, from the car corral with all the awesome hot rods, to the sportsman pits with hundreds of cars..literally hundreds. Just walking around and seeing all the cool stuff it's amazing. In 2011 Indy was my first national event..mind blown. The next year I went to Charlotte on a spur of the moment decision. Nice, very pristine facility but it had no soul, not like Indy. So after a two hiatus I was back at Indy for '15 & '16. I just love the place. Also last year I went to the DSR open house. That's a treat in itself. I changed jobs this year so I didn't have enough vacation to go this time but absolutely am already planning for next year. Just do it once and you're hooked.
