I don't mean the racers themselves. I know they want to get back to 1320'. I mean the NHRA brass. That's why I said Glendora. Has anyone noticed that three of the people appointed to the safety task force are Coil, AJ, and Head. Three people who don't seem to mind the 1000' deal. If you find it difficult to believe that the NHRA could pull the wool over people's eyes you haven't been following the NHRA closely for the past say, oh, 50 years. :)

Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the linked Burk's Blast are certainly food for thought. In a bad way, I might add.

good point.

quite observant of you.

Their choices for the 'task force' are quite revealing.

ok I was frustrated! I 'm still not giving up. Until the day nhra says 1000' is permanent, I 'll keep checking these threads, and try not to repeat myself in my opposition.

Like you I hold out hope that the powers-that-be at NHRA will be able to come up with something that will both protect the drivers and allow for a return to 1320' racing. But despite what was said in television interviews by many of the drivers at Denver this past weekend, the composition of the task force and comments like those in the Burke's Blast article mentioned above don't make me too optimistic. Fortunately, though, about five years ago I moved to a community with a great dirt track located just a few minutes from my house. Before the move I had never even a seen a sprint car race on dirt, much less followed the sport. Now I not only visit the track frequently for Saturday night racing, I also have tickets for three World of Outlaws races this year (and will possibly be going to a fourth). While I'll miss the smell and sound of nitro if they decide to make 1000' permanent, I know that there are alternatives that I also enjoy.
