Now being from Houston, Texas we very much enjoy heading up to Brainerd in August to race the divisional/national double (this year my business obligations have "killed" five races this summer, so we missed Brainerd amongst others), but yes we have done the zoo and it's safe to say there was almost no drag racing discussion once our tow cart crossed the zoo boundary. If you were a famous racer or a MN local, I imagine you'd feel safe, but being a "foreigner" in a lowered golf cart negotiating the rutted swamp from torrential rains that seem to signal the end of their summer, the alcohol induced banter of the zoo campers was largely based on seeing our golf cart stuck or seeing if my wife would return the favor of being mooned. All of the races with nearby spectator camping have a bit of a party atmosphere but the zoo is clearly on steroids. I promise you that I felt 10 to 20 times safer the last time I went to Daytona Bike Week (possibly largely because that was a guys only trip). The zoo after the sun is down is part Mardi Gras, part Sturgis, but with zero police presence from what I saw. Definitely a bucket list item.

This year wasn't bad for ruts out there. We had zero rain (which is weird for RAINerd). Instead, 2018 was a dust bowl, black snot and gritty teeth. The police presence is in the form of private security, they are there if you know where to look, but yes there is WAY less than there used to be. I've been doing this since I was 7 years old, 30 of the last 32 years. It's like 4th of July, Halloween and Christmas all rolled into one.

Well, you could always come out to Phoenix & go to Wild Horse. Have a few beers and fall into the lake. :) Yes I have seen that on occasion.

I say if ya cant beat'em join'em , start a new category that requires the driver to dress in women's clothes. u could call it 'Top Drag(ster) Queen'
