I want to start this post by saying I have been a crew member on the tour now for over 10 years and also want to say that I consider everyone at JFR one of my friends.
I don't feel JFR did anything wrong, they new the rules and followd them.
Terry Haddock and his made there four runs away from NHRA. "closed story"

Now what NHRA did by allowing Robert to make a 5th test session is make the NHRA look like the worst run organization out here in pro-motorsports. The rule was made clear at the begining of the year, when it was questioned, it was made clear a driver only gets 4 test sessions, now they are changing it to the car, if this is the case, do it next season, not when someone is struggling to make the countdown. Does this mean we can put a new car together, go test for as many days as we want non-stop since it's not our main racecar???? If we only run it testing we can test as much as we want, we can get all our data and just apply it to our main car.......
just one persons opinion from the inside.
Again this is not on JFR, this is NHRA doing a terrible job of manament.....

fair enough observation. But what about Terry Haddock? Not fair enough for him, and he isn't heavily subsidized.
You are right, very terrible job of managing.
What JFR has created for themselves is what anyone wants to think it is. I just hope it was worth it. I am still disappointed in both parties, for a variety of reasons. It just stinks all the way around. It really does.

Thanks for your input Shoe! So, I guess that means you won't be asking if you can manipulate the rule like they did?

As I have had it explained to me...if a crew chief, team, owner, whatever, is not pushing the gray area of the rulebook, they are not doing their job. If they asked a question and got an answer you don't like...get mad at the person who gave them the answer. Just because your team didn't have the thought process (or balls) to ask don't get mad at Force. He does everything in his power to win. How do you think he made it from a zero to a hero anyway?

And Terry Haddock losing 120 pts. at St. Louis? When was the last time he was a #1 qualifier and went on to win the race? When was the last time he won a race? He lost the CHANCE @ 120 pts...

Alan

The rule is written in black and white. You and I both know why they changed it. Sorry looked at it again. It is all BS.

WAWAWA Don...you mean to tell me you aren't going to be asking if you can do the same thing at Reading? If you don't, you aren't using very good business sense IMO. You do what you have to do to get your DRIVER in the countdown.

Wow ... no reason to go slamming a guy who abides by the rules as they were written. Don has forgotten more about business than most of us will ever know. Besides, isn't it in his BEST BUSINESS INTEREST to cry foul about the inequity of the application of the rules? Should he just sit on his hands?

No...he shouldn't sit on his hands. What do you think I was saying? I ain't slammin' the guy, I'm saying quit your snivling and do what is best for your team. BTW...as you say there is no need to be slamming anybody...isn't that what 90% of you are doing to Force? As I said earlier, rules are made to be read into until they cannot be refined any further. As it was said earlier, the rule says that the team and driver only get 4 test sessions. Since Robert is now named driver of the #7 car, and they still had test sessions available, he is in the right. If you don't like it...tough s*%t! Go get a job in NHRA and change the world. If Shoe and every other owner out there that has multi teams doesn't ask, then I don't know what to tell ya. If I was an owner I would dang sure make a request. What do you tell your sponsors if you don't? "Well, Force got his way, and we could have if I would have asked, but I didn't agree...so we didn't get into the countdown..."

This is an unbelievable post. Best interests? Of what? And don't say the sport. Please don't tell me you are serious.

Everyone on here that has the position of "JFR didn't do anything wrong, blah-blah-blah. They followed the rule, blah-blah-blah" needs to wake up.

Does the majority of this joke of a decision rest with the NHRA? Yeah. But if you think for a second that before JFR approached the sanctioning body about this deal that he didn't plan on utilizing the leverage they had with Ford and just being John Force, you've got your head in the sand. The bottom line is they got themselves painted into a corner with Robert's team and at the eleventh-hour have decided to flex a little muscle. If that weren't the case, they and everyone else with above average funding would've been doing this all year long if the rule weren't so unclear. "Unclear"..........please! LMAO!!! You're kidding, right?! With the resources these guys have, there is no excuse for that car to not be in the top 10.

You need to look no further than the pi$$-poor way the sanctioning body handled the Wayne County incident to understand what depths they're willing to go to for the heavyweights of the sport.

This whole deal is embarrassing for everyone; JFR, certainly the NHRA and especially us as true hardcore fans of the sport, period.

I haven't slammed Force, I specifically said I haven't lost any respect for him in this deal.

I never said I liked it or didn't like it, I specifically said I understand why NHRA ruled the way they did (money, sponsors).

I also have no desire to work for NHRA or "change the world". That is just unrealistic and nonsensical. That's just like telling someone who doesn't like the President to run for President themselves. It is narrow in thought and scope, and adds nothing to the conversation.

I don't think the Don is "wawawa - ing" or "sniveling". He was merely pointing out that this is not the way rule was written, thusly there was no need to ask for clarification. Pointing out the inequity of the application of the testing rules was what is best for his team. I don't consider that crybabying. He will be in Reading with all of his cars trying like hell to beat them on the track to make all of this nonsense immaterial, and if he needs to make a move, he will.

But Terry Haddock didn't ask the NHRA before the 2 IHRA events. He even said "I could have driven someone else’s car at both IHRA events."

Then what you're saying is that he should put Matt Hagan in Ron Capps car for the next two events................;)

Force pushed on the gray area of the rule book because he was bored from what he was reading on mater. Now look what he did.:)

Absolute dead-center bullseye, Sean! I agree with every word!

I understood the rule as laps counted towards the race car...not the driver.

The situation is not that big a deal.
